Update: the rope stretches out A LOT over time. I ended up having to undo the knots and reposition the seats a couple of times. So, 19‘ of rope was plenty in the end, it was just a little hard to tie the first knot. If you have access to used rope then you wouldn‘t need to worry with it stretching out.

Thank you! Only thing is I only made 2 and there are 4 of them, haha. Needless to say there has been some bickering about who‘s turn it is.

@@ChrisMcDowellDIY What about a porch swing at the other end of the patio?
@ChrisMcDowellDIY3 жыл бұрын
We‘ve actually got one coming! My parents are visiting soon and they are going to try to bring one with them. It‘s my grandma‘s old swing that I used to sit on with her. It‘s old, but sturdy.

@@ChrisMcDowellDIY That’s a great photo opportunity with your mother and her granddaughters, just as your Grandma did with you! (How’s the guitar build?)

The guitar had to go on hold for a bit. With the coming of Spring, I have had a list of things I have been asked to do. Some of them turned into videos on this channel, lol. Also, the grass has to get cut now and just a lot of other things I have to take care of. I need another tool before I move forward on the guitar. Just gotta get it. It‘s one of those sanders from elevate lutherie. I just don‘t have time to sand the sides down by hand. It would take a while by hand and I just can‘t justify the time at this point.

Will this hold adults? I wanna make 2 to hang from my pergola, not so much as kid's swings but as actual seat for when we entertain guests etc
@ChrisMcDowellDIY2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I sit in them from time to time and they hold just fine. They are a little skinny, so you may want to use at least a 2x8 or even 2x12 instead of what I used which were scrap 2x6 pieces. Also, get pressure treated wood so they will withstand the elements much longer.

Could have pushed up the wood, tie the knot, then push the wood down )
