I Can't Believe This Fish Ate my Lure! EPIC FIGHT!

I can't believe this canal fish ate my lure. This session I hit the canal in search of the beautiful tench. But not in a way people are use to. I'm leaving the worms and maggots at home and cracking out the ultra light lures! The aim of this session was to attempt to catch my first tench on a lure! Armed with my super ultra light set up and micro nymph baits it was always going to be a fun session with loads of species caught like chub, rudd, bream and perch, but did I catch the target species?

Well done Chris. You were totally made up for that first Tench and deserved to be. Just an idea but maybe you could try a fake worm on that light set up too. We all know Tench love worms so casting one out and twitching it under the nose of a Tinca might do the trick.☺

I've lived in Canada for over 20 years but i still enjoy watching the finesse of UK canal angling. I used to fish for tench with sweetcorn bait on an 16/18 hook. I would never have thought of using a micro jig. You did well to land that. Thanks for sharing

The tungsten putty trick is genius, it's now my only weight I add to my soft lures when jig head's are too big or bold , especially like the way you can shape it ,I've even give the putty pattern and carved eyes etc into the putty .Thanks for that one mate

Great job! Tench is a real fighter, a very strong fish. I caught my first tench on a float rod, at first I thought it was a hook on a snag, but suddenly this hook came to life! And it was a tench weighing 1.127 kg. But the real battle was this summer in May, I was slowly catching perches on my ultra light, and then suddenly a “golden ferrari” sits on the hook and the reel friction starts to crack, the line is rapidly unwinding, I was carrying it for about 7 minutes, its weight was 2.780 kg, amazing feeling! As always great video! Thanks!

Je pense que mon leader doit être réduit car j'ai vu que tu étais en 8/100 ème est c'est sûrement la clef de la réussite ainsi que le mastic sur la tête plombée pour la discrétion. A German lurefirm ProfiBlinker made a full dvd on catching coarsefish on their lures, they also used the 2 smallest sizes. But they baited the fish with groundbait and fished over it and let the lure rest for 2- 3 seconds small lift and rest again. They caught bream, carp, roach and ide . This dvd was made atleast 10 years ago
