Hope you guys enjoyed this one. Just thought i'd mention my new rubber mesh full carbon net (fancy i know) just turned up. As well as my replacement single hooks for these baits ready for the next time i target these wild brownies!

You caught very nice fish. I wish they were that size in our waters 💪🏻. Did you ever try barbless single hooks or even only one barbless single at the wobbler tail? Less stress for the fish and less work for you in unhooking 👌🏻😊

Been a carp fisherman for around 20 years but hung up my kit some 10years ago due to work commitments. Decided to come back to the sport but rather than for carp i went spinning for pike instead... Unfortunately there are none to be had in my local canals and rivers so I built another kit for small lures like these for perch. Your videos have been a wealth of knowledge even though you might have been actually teaching anything. Just watching you fishing is a lesson in itself!

I used to fly fish a tiny stream like this in Co Durham, I used a 6 foot 4 weight fly rod, catching almost every cast on dry, no false casts, right and left handed casting, spent more time in the trees than on the water! loved the challenge more than anything else, bought the rod for the stream, real back to basics, you vs fish!

In our country in the Czech Republic, we have crushed barbs on trout raviers with hooks and triple hooks, and the fish gets rid of the bait better. Even from the landing net, the lures are better removed.

you want to do some searchin into BFS mate if you havent done so already thatll be bob on for these trout videos its ultra light baitcasting under 3/4 grams some lures and spinners weighing less than 1g ! its a technique popular in japan that the uk have adapted and made BFS UK Style which ranges 3.5g-8g which is bob on for jacks, perch and chubb but traditionally the Bait Finesse System (Reel and Rod) when paired correctly you can cast very low weights very very far distance with just a flick of your wrist !

Those ones at the end were awesome…. I highly doubt too many fish in there, too difficult that’s why they hit so easily. There’s likely the odd 5 pounder under a bank in there, but they are picky eaters, hard too catch by day. The biggest browns often come out at night,
@Declan-pg8cg3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, big mayfly, sedge and especially daddy long-legs hatches will bring the big browns up top. My local reservoir is a sight to behold when the crane flies get blown onto the water.

I caught over 100 trout this year and I haven’t touched one. I have seen people say that touching them isn’t ideal. I simply remove the hook in my net and place my net right back into the water to let the fish go. 👍🏼

Hi Chris, great video mate, a quick question from a fairly newbie here: why were you annoyed when you sat you rod down and the reel went in the water? did it cause you issues after? did you need to do some sort of maintenance after the session- if so what? OK so that was more than a quick question 😆 just curious, I could maybe see an issue if it was saltwater but I thought fresh water would be ok? I thought it would just be a hazard of the sport and they would be built with this in mind. please excuse my ignorance.
