Believe it or not this little river was actually running off from a minor flood, so it was a foot or two higher than usual. That could be why the fish were so active. The last swim where I was catching those chub usually runs just a few inches deep! As usual thank you guys for the support! Its crazy to think that in just a couple of weeks I could be at 100k subs!

Often fish a flood relief drain, which is more like a small stream, always fishes its head off when the locks have just been closed and the water starts to subside! Have to say after watching so many of your videos what a top angler you are, I've been fishing 30 years but you keep suprising me with the methods and fish you catch using them!

I last fished at the age of 13yrs old, my life has always been firmly entrenched with nature though - and now professionally as a filmmaker. I'm a little on my back foot with fishermen that I meet as most, knowing my penchant for the whole bag, tend to start demonising otter and cormorant within a minute or two. I don't know your opinions, nor do I want to as you've just given me 20mins of happiness being on a wild tributary and seeing the most beautiful of specimens across the board (loved that Perch). You're clearly a lover of life and show great care - thanks for the experience (and bringing back a few memories). Si.

In terms of methods, quality, variety of species and time frame, I think this is probably the best fishing session I have seen on any freshwater fishing channel

Absolutely this! I'm so jealous of the setting. Small intimate environment, light rod, multiple species. This is more entertaining than any 40lb carp vid.

I was long trotting with red maggot on the River Alyn on Wednesday afternoon in the sunshine, stood in the middle of it ( 3ft deep) in my chest waders pulling nice Grayling, Chub and Brownies out for fun, it was epic and great to be out and about, getting back out up the bank is always the "fun" bit 😂😂, lovely vid dude 👍

Memories. I used to do exactly what you did here on a local stream near me called the sow nr Eccleshall in staffs. Used to catch perch that size and chub, not quite as big. Unfortunately, due to dodgy legs, I'm unable to keep it up. Your vid was fantastic. I think I was watching with a stupid grin on my chops.😆

I haven't stopped in to watch you before. Kerry here from 🇨🇦🇨🇦. I mostly fly fish in freshwater but I occasionally go out with ultralight gear in the ocean or new backwaters. I have a friend in a distant country who fly fishes for big chub, aren't they a beautiful fish? Your approaches tell me you know quite well what you are doing and I appreciate your skill. People often get this idea that many of the "Coarse fish are junk fish but they are not. You folks have a pretty good variety of fish and most are beautiful when you look at them. I'm not a fan of Pike Fishing really, unless they smash surface lures, that can be heart stopping! I watched you grab a good sized Pike under the Gill Plate! Man that can slice up your fingers, please be careful!! That was a nice Brown you caught, put up a good scrap, you released it well. A great day on the water no matter what you are fishing. You handle fish very well, I'm happy you had a great day!

I love that these beautiful little wild places still exist hidden out here in our gorgeous countryside, the way we build on and destroy wild habitats is scary so it’s good to know there’s still untouched environments like this that are clearly thriving by the look of the quality of fish. Another great vid, thanks Chris. 👊🏻 ps Ya probably are already so apologies if I’m trying to teach ya to suck eggs but make sure ya go get yourself sponsored by some of these fishing brands if you aren’t, I’d love to know this is making your life more secure financially etc because ya deserve it. 👍🏻

Just discovered your channel. I live in Texas and Love freshwater fishing! I watch these fishing videos sometimes. Never from a different country. I've never wondered until now about freshwater fishing in England. Never realized there was such nice fishing there! For some reason I assumed the freshwater fish were much smaller! Also, interesting to know the similarities of fishing equipment and techniques between Texas and England! I read the "about" section....and like a true fisherman....you are not revealing your fishing spots! I Love It! Here in Texas; you give away an unmolested fishing spot....it will quickly be overfished and polluted with trash! I had to google info. about your Perch and Chub. We have Trout and Pike here in the US. Not many Pike and Trout here in Texas. The ones we have are small. The further North one goes in the US; the bigger and more available both Pike and Trout can be found. We're known more for Largemouth Bass, Alligator Gar, and Catfish. Thank You for this education!
