I Rescued These Beautiful Fish Now They're My PETS!

Its finally time for an update on those baby carp I rescued from the flooded field. In the video we have a re-cap on where it all began with the fish rescue and few months ago and we look at where the fish are now. I built a raised pond to be able to raise these fish at home until they get too big and have to move on.

5 KZbin anglers. 1 Ep each per night per week on ITV4. Hold back on 1% they spend on the trash shows they put on and have Sir Ginger, Carl, Adventurer George and 2 others. It's cheap TV and better than rubbish like Chelsea or what ever they have on.

Crucians are super long living - I caught one from a mates farm pond as a kid in the 90's - it still lives in my dads garden pond today! Great stuff!

Definitely recommend keeping perch/pike, I’ve been keeping a perch and a pike in a 225L aquarium for the past 2-3 months having caught them as babies along side a tench and 4 Rudd, been a joy to see them grow and behave like they would in the wild, esp when they hunt !! Feed them live minnows I catch in the local stream ( perch will only eat live and pike definitely prefers live).

@jangolab3716 Have you ever tried with frozen shrimp? When i have perch in my aquarium they tear it up before it nearly hits the water. Sounds odd to me that you can only get your perch to eat live... I agree with pike. But perches should'nt be a problem to feed with dead things.. 🤟

Hi Chris, Thanks for saving these fish, and housing them In a safe place. I would do the same, If I wasn't In a flat. Being on top floor, I am not even aloud a fish Tank. The netting went well here, we managed to get nearly all of the fish that got stranded. If I were you, I would look to putting these In the Forgotten Pond, with the Other Big Carp In It. Don't forget. we will be Into another Winter of Floods. And this might be an on going thing saving fish from those Ponds that will accumulate In that same field. Keep 'Em Coming.

Chris, Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your daughter - hope all the family is well. Now to your post....your comments don't make sense but confirm that which I have originally posted? 1) Firstly, you state that this occurred in October last year (2023) 2) You openly admit that these fish are from "fisheries and the river itself" (something which I originally posted to advise you did not know where these fish had come from - now you seem to admit it!) 3) You state that "the fish had either spawned in here"? - these are CARP - they spawn in May/June!?! - you state this is October? 4) By your own statement of these fish coming from the "fisheries and the river itself", you moved fish into a river system without any idea of their lineage with the possibility of transferring disease? Maybe you should stick to angling, which is something you are very good at - with regards to fish and eco-systems knowledge, you should let someone with more more nous in this area take over - you don't appear to have that which is necessary.

Nice one man! A bit worried about that front-end of the liner though. That bulging from the water weight could get problematic over time. A lot of extra tension on those seams... maybe there is some way to strengthen the front with some framing or something.

I bought a 5,000g swimming pool and kept a couple carp and gold fish. Male carp was 35 inches and female was 23inches. Unfortunately I'm in Louisiana, US and we had a hurricane knock our electric out for a week and all the fish died.

I've breed true crucians and, to my eyes, those fish you think might be crucians are most likely brown goldfish or crucian/goldfish crosses. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong as I can see how much you want them to be proper crucians.

Hey buddy I have the big 1000litre ibc cubes for my pet fish. A small pond filter keeps it clean and a o2 pump keeps the oxygen high. I'd not have put in the rocks tho they tend to trap dirt and crap meaning the water gets dirty quicker.

Oh dear, you gonna get the fish keeping bug, won't be long before they eating from hand and swimming upto you all exited, trust me Ive been there, but I wouldn't trust that linner , come the cold weather, get a proper one from your nearest aquatics centre and use it inside existing, great vid ,have loved following this rescue adventure👍👍

Carp will do just fine in the river at any size. They are invasive along all our river systems in Australia. Somewhere like where you released the pike would be heaven for young carp.

Hi mate, bit of a late suggestion. Try and add some plants and dead wood to give them hiding places and stuff to interact with, it will massively help with their enrichment! This is if you haven’t done that already. Also with the food you’re feeding them, they’ll grow fast. Just some suggestions bud. Have a good one! 😊

Feed the baby koi with waterflee's , Loof for a place where you can catch waterflee's ! the babykoi will grow twice as fast . The baby carp you can feed with dry junior dog food. The Dogfood must have much more than 30% egg white. They will also getting bigger much much faster ...

This is where it starts… in a couple of years you’re going to want a 5000 gallon koi pond with nexus filters, moving bed biological filters, 75w UV clarifiers, protein skimmers, ozone reactor… and then, just as you’ve got it right, you’ll want a 10,000 gallon pond

You could use an IBC with the top cut off , you can pick them up for £20-30, aluminium frame that you can clad with wood, would make a good solid free standing pond!
