Chris, every time I have shouldered a canoe this year, what invariably comes to mind is that bit of footage of you jumping about four feet from shore to a little rock out there, before effortlessly lowering the boat onto the water. Or maybe it was six feet, I don't know. And I think "No Jeff, you are not a badass and don't try that!" This is another great looking trip, and thanks for all the effort it takes to bring it to us!

Since you asked for suggestions on new places to explore, are you familiar with La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve in Quebec ? I never canoe-camped there myself, but those in the know say that it's one of the best places for canoe-camping in Quebec. I know it's a long drive from where you live, but since you seem to visit Mont-Tremblant regularly, it's really easy to access from there; you just drive a couple of hours north on hwy 117. The highway crosses the entire reserve from south to north. And thanks to you and Julia for sharing with us your adventures in Algonquin park. It's been almost 20 years since I last canoe-camped, but your videos have re-ignited the flame in me. :)

Mic drop! Amazing! We did a similar loop during the first of September. We cut up maple creek though. I might add a appreciated seeing your experience going into big thunder lake as I avoided losing my shoe at the slog at the beginning if the portage. It tied my shoes a little tighter because of your video. Lol. Amazing cinematography, amazing creative flow and holy moly i loved that transition when you pushed the canoe and the slid over to the paddling sequence. Thank tou for your always ever awesome inspiration. You both are so wonderful to folllow along. For the record you both totally inspired all of ny edits on my last Algonquin trip video. Great video series! Enjoyed watching this. Algonquin is so awesome. I liked some of the quirky edits in this series (the wild goose chase for a campsite scene on Manitou, for example), they made it fun to follow. Looking forward to the next one! I'll shamelessly plug Killarney one more time just because I'd like to see your videography with the scenery. But these videos made me remember how great Algonquin is, and the best part is that it's huge and there's so much of it. If I remember right this was last year? Hope you got some camping in this year!

Very sure-footed Chris! Samsung Gear 360 camera? Can you make a regular 1080p video with it and flip around to view different angles using a Mac desktop App? (I’m sure I can research this if you don’t know). I was looking at the insta 360 one but the footage you get is always amazing. Thanks.
@ChrisProuse6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brad! Yep, this was with the Gear 360 - Samsung's app lets you view the stitched clips in rectilinear, 'tiny-planet' mode, or a stretched out 16:9 image that's cropped... and I think the app will let you share some of those views directly to social media platforms (though I haven't tested it). I usually import the stitched files into FCPX to work on them, where I do have the option of pulling out a scrolling 16:9 frame from them... though it's heavily stretched and quite pixelated because the advertised 4K is actually combined across the two lenses. I have a friend who bought the insta 360 and reported really low / grainy resolution unfortunately... I think GoPro's 5.2K "Overcapture" on their Fusion camera is the winner at the moment for pulling a usable 16:9 frame out of it :)

Would love to know your opinion on your MSR elixir tent Pros and cons
@ChrisProuse6 жыл бұрын
We've been really happy with it for the most part - it's very well constructed, and the fabric seams have held up to a lot of wind and rain. The rain fly that goes over the tent is a little confusing at first... I kept thinking the MSR logo should go on the outside of the tent... but it actually faces inward. I wish it had small windows on the doors like our old MEC tent, which were helpful for taking a quick peek at the weather, or catching the sunrise... but the window seams on that old tent eventually pealed off, so I think the MSR will last longer :)
