Crosswords - especially when they are cleverly constructed and bring together many many diverse strands of knowledge that click together in a perfect “just so” way - remind me of Blake’s immortal lines - “To see the world in a grain of sand, and all heaven in a wild flower To hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour” Which brings me to a “shout out” (one of the clues in today’s Jan-5 Sun x-word) to its creator Kareem Ayas, orig. from Lebanon and now in NYC teaching Eng. Lit (hence the Blake ref above ……😊……)…… Kudos to Kareem …..👏👏👏

There is some knowledge I wish I didn't have, like Nicklebacks songs!

They finally found a purpose in this puzzle. The process of Chris recalling the name of this band while solving is gold! And as a recent collector of songs mentioned in the NYTXW, there are 4 (nay, 6) titles in this puzzle, including the other Lola!

It's fun watching you SORT out the clues to come up with the answers, especially after I've already solved it; I'm rooting for you to find the solution and was cheering when you finally ascertained the theme! AND, you completed it in less than 1/4 of the time it took me -- fantastic!

I do this every day! It takes me twice as long and I don’t have to speak to an audience 😅

Not only is eta a Greek "character", it's the Greek "H" which both homer and Herodotus begin with.

i think the informally for sea-tac just means it's not the full name, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

I parsed the Quentin Tarantino clue as “many a role in a Quentin Tarantino film”, as there are lots of cameos in his film - not just by him Edit: although I can immediately think of his cameo in Inglorious Basterds as one of the soldiers being scalped

Cameos in films, like crossword answer nuances, are often missed! Great observation, Adam.

It could also refer to his cameos in films not directed by him, such as Sleep With Me, Diary Of The Dead or The Muppets' Wizard Of Oz, amongst others. (Though even within his own films there are a few as well as the one you mentioned - Jackie Brown, Hateful Eight, OUATIH, Django.)

Fab five only makes sense if you read five backward. The Nickelback applies both across and down.

Things change, as in how a rebus behaves differently in the cross between Down and Up.
