I like how you speak slowly and have calm, soothing music in the background. It forces us viewers to listen to everything you say whether we lie to or not. Most carpenters rush through all the details and steps you just automatically don't listen to them.

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection kzbin.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

This is my favorite piece I've seen you make. The tenons attaching the top make it "float" over the base in a very satisfying manner. Investing in some good chisels and a few hand planes would enable you to explore better joinery. Not everything can, or should be cut with a power tool. Love your work!
@Foureyes.Furniture7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ryan...I know, and I should...I just always put it off. I feel like if I had a neighbor who offered to take care of all of my hand tools I'd start using them tomorrow, I just don't want that responsibility. It's like the same part of my brain that prevents me from ever getting a dog...or having grass :-)
@RyanOakey7 жыл бұрын
Ha! Agreed, sharpening tools can be time consuming. It can be really satisfying though. When I first learned to sharpen chisels I always had little bald spots on my left arm where I was testing if my chisel was sharp enough by shaving hair with it... still do that. I prefer sharpening without a specialised machine, but my university had a Work Sharp 3000 that I thought was a great option for lazy sharpeners. It makes a nice flat bevel rather than a hollow-grind like a Tormek, and costs considerably less. Might be a good option for you when you take the plunge and buy some hand tools. www.worksharptools.com/sharpeners-30/woodworking/ws3000.html

Firstly I must just say that I am a huge fan of your work. The angles you use really add a touch of class to your designs. I have watched many of your videos in awe. Being a novice wood worker I can appreciate the effort you put into the design and build processes and your film making skills are brilliant. Also due to being a novice wood worker I watch many different channels and have learned to respect seasonal wood movement and the need to cater for it in my designs. Maybe I am just paranoid from lack of experience but I was concerned that this build does not seem to cater for this. I am not sure if I am missing something or being overly paranoid. Please comment on if you ignored wood movement and if the project has since cracked or if my understanding is flawed.

Your video is really calming and soothing to watch (pretty sure I'm not the first person to say this). Fantastic video. I've been woodworking for about a year now and you inspired me to make this very table. I found a stack of hardwood 1" square sticks at my local recycling centre near London. There was disagreement on exactly what wood they are, one person said mahogany but I'm still not sure!. Anyway my version of your table has a lovely striped top and my family now think I'm a proper woodworker! As a beginner the angle cuts were quite a challenge but I somehow managed. I absolutely love my table and have a real sense of achievement every time I see it. Thank you so much for inspiring me to have a go.
