That was such an informative demonstration of how to fix a cocking rack. My example is a lot worse but worth a try. 🤞 Thank you Chris 👍 P.S. if only someone made tungsten carbide Cocking racks.

You straightened the cocking rack teeth in my Retina Ib over a decade ago, and it still works perfectly. To be on the safe side I bought two new cocking racks in case I need to replace the ones in the Ib or my IIc someday.

Wow, Nice work Chris! - I've never managed to get a repaired one to run that smoothly, they've always felt a bit 'crunchy'. An awesome tip about using one of the hardened reflex racks as a shaper for the teeth.. definitely going to try that! ❤ I'm sure I've seen you do it before as well, but i often don't remove the shutter to do the timing. I just loosen the little cover on the transfer shaft, lift it slightly and then position the teeth on the shutter ring with a screwdriver.

Someone asked this, but the comment disappeared before i could answer.. "Hello ! The back of my retina won't open. I wanted to change the film and the button doesn't move, impossible to press it. with the last film I had no problems, has anyone already had this problem?" The back-catch is probably jammed with corrosion and/or grit. The answer is to press the button REALLY hard, on the edge of the table if necessary. Once the camera back is open you can lubricate the catch.

I have a Retina IIc that I just love using. I have the Schneider 50mm f/2.8 Xenon lens, and I even have an original plastic lens hood for this lens. However, the one issue I've experienced is that the rangefinder patch is slow to move as I adjust focus on the lens. It seems like the rangefinder patch in the viewfinder is gummed-up somehow and just keeps the focus from feeling snappy. It focuses accurately, but I wish it was not behaving this way. What do I need to clean/lube in order to restore perfect function?
