SHINee's mic stands for Dream Girl were actually custom-made and cost around $1500 each. They had to get them custom-made because the mic stands had to be durable enough to withstand the choreography and also lightweight enough to be carried around.

"Your Number" is one of SHINee's classics, but a lot of the time new Shawols aren't really aware of most of SHINee's Japanese songs. Japanese songs and albums aren't usually promoted outside of Japan, so unless you follow them closely you may not even know when they release a new Japanese song or album if your not in Japan. Kpop companies have to partner with Japanese producers and promoters in order to promote in Japan, so Japanese MVs are released by Japanese companies. Japanese copyright rules and laws are more strict than other countries, which makes it more difficult to react to these songs. That is why Japanese songs often have lower view counts and are more likely to get copyright strikes, etc. Unless, like this MV, they happen to be released by the Korean company. "Your Number"was released in 2015, and it's one of SHINee's original Japanese songs. However, if you watch a live performance from their SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul (SWC4) from 2015, you will get to hear what the song sounds like in Korean. Plus, there is a special audience interaction part at the end of their live performances of this song that you should see. (I won't spoil it, I will let you see for yourself.) If you want to see Taemin and U-Know perform together, check out their special "Spectrum" stage at the Gayodaejun award show in 2012. In this performance, U-know from TVXQ, Taemin and Minho from SHINee, Eunhyuk and Donghae from Super Junior, and Kai and Lay from EXO are all part of a special dance stage.

The Korean version of "Love Like Oxygen" was released as the lead promotional track on SHINee's first full length album The SHINee World in August 2008. It was their first release after their debut single "Replay" in May 2008. Fun fact: They also released a Japanese version of "Love Like Oxygen" in 2011 as part of the group's Japanese debut. (2PM debuted only 3 months after SHINee, so they are of the same era. And back in the day, 2PM and SHINee were often on variety shows and music programs together. That's why they have similar vibes.) Taemin had just turned 15 years old right before this MV was released. SHINee's level of professionalism and maturity was there from the very beginning -- there were only 2 or 3 months between "Replay" and "Love like Oxygen." :D It's just SHINee's style, they are constantly switching up the feel and vibe with every song you hear from them. As you may have noticed, you didn't hear Taemin sing very much in this song. In SHINee's early days Taemin didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs and he was mostly just given big dance breaks during his parts of the song. As you can probably tell, one of the things SHINee are known for is their harmonies, and they have one of the best 5 part harmonies in the industry. That is one of the reasons why they are known as a top vocal group and why they are so admired by their peers. Their harmonies are unmatched. And this was baby SHINee, just imagine how good their harmonization has become now that their voices have matured. Just wait until you hear them live, now that they fully understand how to present the full range of their vocal color. :D You will be blown away. To sum up exactly what SHINee's style is: they are vocal powerhouses that create universally popular pop songs. :D When it comes to SHINee you can't expect anything except that it will be uniquely SHINee and probably one of the best songs and performances you will ever experience. Every song that SHINee has ever released is unlike any other and it won't sound or look like anything you have ever seen from them, including the songs on the same album. That's why they have such a big influence on the music industry, even from day one. SHINee's whole concept since debut is they are supposed to be SM's experimental boy group, so they are constantly making and setting trends. And songs like "Love Like Oxygen" are a good example of that. You wanna know what trends SHINee has started? Let's make a list: -- They are one of the first groups to start the trend of colored skinny jeans and form-fitting outfits that showed off their athletic psychics for male idols. Before SHINee, the trend was hip-hop style with baggy clothing that was 3 times too big. (SHINee started the boyfriend/student look.) Their fashion trends have been given the name "SHINee Trend." -- They have been first to set records when it comes to winning awards -- first group to win more than 3 times in a row on music shows, Onew was the first to ever be given "the best leader" award at Melon Music awards (voted for by his peers who were in other groups), first to sweep all the top awards at every award show in a single season coining the phrase "Rookie Grand slam," etc. -- They were one of the first groups to have sharp precise synchronized dance moves and to show the world that they could sing live while performing complex choreography and sound flawless. Because of SHINee, everyone upped their standard when it comes to live performances and choreography. -- They were the very first group to release a dance practice video specifically so fans could see the full dance, and they were the first to have a dance practice video become a trending video online. They are the reason why dance practice videos are a thing today. -- Jonghyun was one of the first IDOLS to be recognized as a singer/songwriter, and to produce songs for not only himself and his group, but for other artists as well. Jonghyun was highly respected within the industry for his songwriting and composing skills and he was considered one of the most prolific artists of his generation. About 40% of SHINee's songs were wrote by him, as well as all of his own solo songs and several songs for other artists, such as EXO, Taemin, IU, Lee HI, etc. -- And SHINee pretty much starts almost every trend in the music industry when it comes to the sound and style of their music. And every song they release is expected to be something that has never been seen or heard before. Not only is it expected to be something they have never done before, but they are expected to come up with a sound and style that has never been done before in the entire music industry. The industry looks to SHINee to set the trends and to show them the next direction to take. And that continues still today. -- SHINee are also often the ones to start the next dance style or trend in the Kpop industry with their choreography. -- They were one of the first groups to use a world-famous choreographer to create their dance for their "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV. "Sherlock" was the first time SM (or pretty much anyone in the Kpop industry) had ever used a famous choreographer, and at the time, it was the most expensive Kpop production ever. -- Taemin was one of SM's first members from an active group to debut solo. -- They are also the group that is most likely to appear on the first episode or on the pilot episode of a new variety show, and it is said, that it's good luck to have SHINee on the program first because that means it will be a success. -- With SHINee's "Don't Call Me" comeback in 2021, Key started the "ending fairy" trend on music shows where idols come up with unique and/or funny poses at the end of their performances. -- Minho's solo debut in 2022 made SHINee the first SM group to have all their members debut solo.

There is even an iconic moment in one of SHINee's comeback stages for "Dream Girl" where Minho's mic stand breaks in the middle of the dance and the way they all improvised and kept on dancing just shows how skilled and professional they are. If you watch an episode of the variety show Beatles Code 2 you will get to hear them talk about it. I love this episode of the show because it has so many iconic SHINee moments. I think you will enjoy watching it. There are 2 parts. (Just so you know, the other guests on the show are members of the iconic first generation boy group G.O.D. and Shindong, one of the members of Super Junior, is one of the hosts of the show. The concept of this variety show is The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" theme. So that is why the hosts are dressed the way they are, they are supposed to look like the members of The Beatles.) SHINee's mic stands have been specially made to be lighter and stronger than a regular mic stand, and if you watch the show I suggested above, you will get to see them up close, etc. However, the SHINee members still had to train a lot with them to be able to pull off these impressive moves. You should also check out a live concert stage for "Dream Girl" -- the mic stand choreography is legendary and, like SHINee, it was so unique for its time and unlike anything anyone had done up until then. Just another example of what makes SHINee pure greatness and why they are considered one of the best when it comes to their vocals and dancing. :D

The boys are such professional and so quick thinking on their feet as performers; there have been several instances of a mic stand breaking during live performances of Dream Girl but the other members (especially Onew) would immediately react and smoothly get rid of the broken parts (to avoid injuries) while flawlessly readjusting themselves to make sure to switch mic stands around so that whoever needed one for their part of the choreography would have it while another member who needed it less during that part would go without theirs. This meant they were continuously reassessing their situation and yet still instinctively be completely in sync with each others!

Shineeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I am just here to express my love for their music and performance quality. I think what makes them so consistent and kept them active as a group is the fact that even if the new style they try out isn’t your cup of tea, there is a plethora of songs which might be to choose from. As far as I have seen, even if you don’t like, for example, Don’t Call Me, you still would have fun in a concert setting, because they will never forget their old classics, and work with what they know the fans love
