If Defy declares bankruptcy, make sure you get listed as a creditor. That puts you in line to get paid something. You" loaned" them money when you agreed to let them take more of your income than was in your contract. They may not pay you everything they owe, but you could force them to give you something.

Easy fix: go back to the good days when there was zero money involved in youtube. There has been no 'real' content since google took over and money/monetization/advertising got involved. I miss the days of yotubers who made thousands of videos with zero compensation just because it was fun and/or they had a message, or could not get platformed elsewhere. In those good old days copyright also meant nothing on youtube, it was the wild west, it was free speech, it WAS great, once.

My main channel is just about to reach 80k subscribers but I don't make enough to pay for my living expenses, I've always avoided networks because of the horror stories but I think if I can find a network that'll benefit me more than it costs me then I'm willing to take it

Chris, look at what happened with Telltale Games. They shuttered overnight -- leaving people with no paychecks and 1 week of health insurance. In fact, Telltale was hiring the week prior and more than one person hired moved across country and purchased a home. This behaviour is rampant and growing. It's terrible but true... and in fact fostered by this "gig economy" where "bosses feel little to no responsibility to those working for them.

Yeah that is true capitalism - a system founded on profit. The workers have never mattered, and predatory monopolies have always been a thing. Unfortunately, we elected a corporate slob to a government owned by corporations, and that party is once again taking us back to the point of behemoth companies and investors that have the economy by the balls. They learned nothing because they don't fucking care and the electorate props them up time and time again.

While I certainly agree that the current administration is morally bankrupt and cares nothing about the workers/electorate, neither party has stood up to monopolies or corporate interests in any real way since prior to the Vietnam War. Both parties have been complicit in the corporate oligarchy we now have in place of a real government.

Hey I feel bad for you man. But this is what you get when you try to make money off of youtube videos. Work on your film degree and get an actual stable job. I hate it when KZbinrs complain about how they're not getting paid enough when all they do is post daily vlogs of themselves doing something stupid. Meanwhile, actual hardworking people bust their asses every day just to make a decent living. This isn't a very millennial thing to say, but the age of the Internet is making people lazy. You should not feel entitled to lots of money just because you make KZbin videos. I'm very sorry if I offended you Chris(or anyone else), but this is just my opinion. Your channel is actually pretty useful and I am a HUGE fan, but there's people that work VERY hard (I know people with film degrees from Berkeley and Columbia) and find it hard to make a decent wage.
