I know is different, this is open space, seems to be harder to achieve it, but if you could add some space to the background noise, don't know how to explain, in this song they did it pretty well (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWbSoIN9es6Lock), like feeling some empty space between you and the background noise, that would be astonishing. As far as I know there are some algorithms for it. Thanks for this kind of content!

This is absolutely astonishing. I was home alone when I found this channel (after binge watching some Smarter Every Day), with a curved monitor and some headphones. I honestly felt as if I was walking up the steps to a place I've only seen in movies. More than once I turned my head to try and see something off screen, like the hat stand at 2:52, and had to snap back to reality and realize I was at home. Its almost unnerving how easy our brains can be tricked with just two senses (sight and sound) while our other three senses are sending completely different information. Amazing! Thank you for the awesome trip!

Many argentinos speaking there, also some Colombians or Puerto Ricans some Mexicans, Frenchs or Canadians (or some other french speaking country. Some argentino was commenting about your head and whatever you had on, the camera or the mics, before you got to the ants xD). It's interesting how the camera picks up so many noises from the environment, steps, voices, screams and when you are there your brain just filters them all out so you hear only what you are interested in: the voice of your companion, the tweets of a bird, the wind... Awesome! Thanks for filming and sharing! Engenheiro = engineer Saludos desde 🇦🇷

When the video is so immersive social anxiety hits, loved it
@Abyssionknight4 жыл бұрын
I have bad anxiety, and get really stressed in crowded areas. So instead of travelling and dealing with places overflowing with tourists, I like to watch videos of tourist destinations. Watching a video with crowds in it normally doesn't bother me in the slightest, but with the directional audio I actually did feel a bit of stress and anxiety watching this. I'm both disappointed by that fact, and really intrigued by it, since I've never really associated sounds with my anxiety before, so I've learned something new about myself! I'll definitely be checking out more of these videos... but probably only the ones in less crowded areas. :P

I have a video suggestion for you. The 5th Presbyterian church in Chicago has a gigantic organ that Rob Scallion has done some videos with. The organ, if you're not familiar, is literally built into the structure of the entire building. This organ also has a MIDI input port which Rob has showed can be used to play music from a laptop. He repeated said that there is no way he could capture how truly amazing the organ sounds in person, so I thought you might want to give it a go. I'm sure there are other churches with similar organs closer to you if you don't want to or remain unable to travel, but I know that the church leadership at 5th Presbyterian is willing to allow youtube videos to be filmed there. It might also make a good topic for a SED video while your there.

Also, you might experiment with pushing the microphones about 15-20% farther apart. (Sorta like HDR for stereo) - it's a thought :-)

Thanks for these, a great way to be kinda there, from here. Mind you, the elephant riding one remains my favorite, but this one got very close :) These immersive videos work best IMO when there are many different sounds in different directions and distances, like towards the end with the choppers going around and all the people talking all over the place, this was more immersive than others where there is one dominant sound that kinda drowns everything else. On the image side, I don't think it's necessary to have your GoPro set to such a wide angle, it distorts the image a lot and we're probably not looking at this from up close enough to have the same perspective. Maybe just when outdoors try dial down the wide angle? Just a suggestion, maybe worth trying some day.

Love this channel, enjoyed every video. I appreciate your fascination with sound. As a pro sound guy myself, if I might offer one suggestion: try panning the hard left and right a little more toward center. You can also play with the width of each stereo channel if the soundstage asks for it, come to think of it that might work even better, if you can widen each channel so that they overlap a little bit, that might thicken up the center. To my ears, there’s too much going on in the far left and right and not enough signal coming though in the center. Basically, you want the entire soundstage to deliver sound pressure, not just the far left and right, trickling down to less in the middle. It’s normal for a binaural or hard panned stereo microphone to exaggerate the stereo field, and unless software decodes it into a full stereo soundstage, well, you gotta do it yourself. Any decent audio workstation will allow you to tweak this, and ultimately, it’s up to your ears what sounds best. I don’t think you will lose the immersive feeling by gently widening or panning until the middle of the mix “feels“ as present as the edges, in fact, I think it will enhance the experience, since what is in front of you will be heard in front of you, and not spread out to the sides. If I get a few free minutes tomorrow I will grab the audio and experiment myself, it’s a very simple process. Might sound like crap, you never know in this business lol. At any rate, great channel, and I’ll continue to watch each video as they come out.
