Winding down the final days on New Zealand’s South Island, we head to Christchurch. Visiting this lovely city, one cannot escape the lasting wound of the devastating 2011 earthquake. Much of the city has been completely rebuild, but there are still many reminders of the impact of the quake. Quake City Museum chronicles the 2011 quake and offers an excellent history of the seismic activity of the area. The old Canterbury University area and the Botanical Gardens are a must visit. We met past colleagues from our time working in Tunisia and toasted our final night in this beautiful country.
