Awesome departure view of Christchurch. In general, anything underneath a wing over New Zealand is beautiful. For the Q300 of Air NZ, can the seats recline?

Firstly, thank. Air NZ doesn't fly non-stop from CHC to BHE but mostly through Wellington. If you book through Webjet there are options via Auckland

Why go CHC/AKL/BHE when there is travel CHC/WLG/BHE.

Check out webjet and there are booking options through either Wellington or Auckland, so why not?
