It's why remaking the game in the modern style wont work, many of the most emotional and epic moments work because of the gameplay intergration, look at Galufs death.
@t.adamcollins21623 жыл бұрын
@@pharoahman475 LOL. What does this even mean? The moment Gilgamesh shows up, this is basically a cutscene. Doing a modern remake with this moment would probably be more emotionally impactful.
@NukeCloudstalker2 ай бұрын
@@t.adamcollins2162 It'd have to be executed mid-combat, in the same manner, in order to have even a fraction of the same significance. There's plenty of mid-combat sequences like this in the game that don't lead to anything but a special action being taken against you (or even just exposition!). There's only a few, reserved moments where the combat rules are broken, and they're due to characters "going rogue" and doing something of immense significance. You cannot possibly get the same feeling that something VERY significant is happening, the rules themselves are being bent by an individual, with just changing to a cutscene. If you look on as a spectator, it may feel like it's the same, but playing through this game for hours on end, then, when tension is the highest, it turns out that the gameplay, story and world are all not just separate systems - but all come together and remind you of what brought you there. This moment carries significance because of Galufs death, which carried significance because: 1. It violated all established rules of health in combat. 2. It established that healing items, spells etc. even the most powerful ones, does not safe someone from actual death (i.e. "dying" in combat is really just fainting / exhaustion) 3. The story arc of Galuf, Gilgamesh, Exdeath and the rest of the party all comes together. You simply cannot have all of that be conveyed, all at once, from one single frame to another, in a modern style of gameplay. Something equally epic, probably. But not like this.
@pabloleon98842 ай бұрын
@@t.adamcollins2162No no. You don't get it. This isn't a cutscene, the battle is still going on. This, along with Galuf fighting after his life counter reached 0 was impactful back then because it turned upside down what we thought an rpg could do. Like the other guy said, it works because its an unexpected integration. It's tied to the game's mechanics. If done in modern times, it'd be *just* a cutscene. This was something else.

SPOILER . . . . > He's not dead. He comes back. Go watch "FFVIII Gilgamesh Seifer" videos. You'll see him talk about the "dimensional interval" which was roughly translated from "Dimensional rift," he also says "Ba...?" after walking away from killing Seifer. Loosely, this could be traced back to "Bartz" in the Japanese language. He did get a rare sword in that game, however, it seems he lost it before FFXII. There are unanswered questions of Gilgamesh between VIII and XII, but I feel a lot of people would be confused as to why he has Odin's sword if Odin is still alive.

There's no reason to belive that the chronological order Gilgamesh appeared in the games is the actual order he visited them in. FF8 Gilgamesh seems like one of the strongest appearances he's had, swatting away Seifer effortlessly, so I'd say he arrived in the FF8 world much later than in the FF12 one, where he's a lot more like he was in FF5.

In my perfect world, FFV would've maintained the 5 member party system that was in IV and Bartz wouldn't have to refuse Gilgamesh's offer for help. Would've been so nice to see Gilgamesh go up against his former master in an act of revenge. But really, that's never been his style, so hey, at least he went out IN STYLE. Even if he was brought back, doomed to wander the depths of the Rift for eternity, gathering swords which are practically fakes

I wish they had put more effort into his character when he makes cameos in the other games. In FF5 he was a man betrayed by his boss for not being able to defeat you who switches sides in a dramatic way and is actually funny because he roasts people. In all the other games he's just a buffoon who relies on slapstick comedy and overdramatic delivery of lines, but he's not really funny and he doesn't roast anyone anymore.
