@maosama36955 жыл бұрын
@@sylvierose2799 sadly no. there are directors and writers who wants to put their own spin on the character that suits their taste or they feel like it's more epic this way or that way, like ff games where their gilgamesh is very much their own character like ff9 where he is a fellow thief , others like ffxv where he's not the goofball obsessive sword nut character we know all and love more like a force of nature and spirit guardian of the kingdom. but sometimes the same gilgamesh comes back. but i like to think that he enters the rift to that universe let's say xv where he accidentally became this spirit guardian and just went on with it for thousand of years cause he's bored and just to pass the time while waiting for the rift to open up again and then the story takes place and after that the rift opens up again and he just drops the act like it was nothing and goes back to hunting excalibur again. got the idea of this from ff9 gilgamesh despite his very different look from the traditional gilgamesh and enkidu being his brother instead of ally/pet , he is out of all the non-gilgamesh gilgamesh is pretty similar in personality and it helps that ff9 gilgamesh is very mysterious and secretive like you feel he's hiding something. probably he is gilgamesh and was deformed by the rift to appropreate to that universe design.

He wanders around, testing other warriors; eventually seeking the pits again, where he gains a new sense, throwing away his old weapons, and keeping the one that seems to always find him, Excalipoor. When Odin frees him, and gifting his sword; Gilgy takes on a more supportive and mentor like role, teaching and training warriors as oppose to fighting them. Maybe even the Pirate, Mecha, and King, could all tie in as time travel shenanigans he got up to while in the rift

It'd be a very poignant game as well. The Mesopotamian Gilgamesh is a representation of mankind's maddening struggle to attain immortality, but he and FF Gilgamesh end up attaining it by taking action to ensure word of their deeds lived on. And so he prepares to face the potentiality of his demise once more, knowing that the journey he took, the allies he made and the rivals he faced will ensure he lives on even if his body won't.

I always head it as my personal headcannon that Alleyway Jack was actually a "prequel" Gilgamesh, this was Gilgamesh as a child/teen, and his first appearance chronologically, before he became a general for Exdeath. Also, I know this video is 3 years old, but Gilgamesh has appeared a lot in Opera Omnia Dissidia, the mobile game, where Bartz and his crew actually recognize him, and Gilgamesh's story kinda moves forward with him being free from the void (for now) but realizing he's not a people person so he becomes a wandering ronin but still pops in to help Bartz since they are buds. They also poke fun at the fact there are so many strange Gilamesh's out there (strange ones like IX, XI, and 0, but even ones that shuld be normal Gilgamesh like VIII and XIII-2) and sort of nudge nudge wink wink that they MIGHT not be this Gilgamesh but no one is totally sure.

I would say that Seymour is an iteration of Gilgamesh in FFX.We fight him on a bridge outside Bevelle,we encounter him four times,he is after the “strongest weapon “ which you could say is Sin,he does have multiple”arms” in his various forms and he ends up becoming “immortal” until we beat him inside Sin which you could say is a place like the Void,a limbo kind of dimension inside of Sin!

Awesome video as always. A tiny nitpick is that the music loops are rather short considering the length of the videos, making them a bit repetitive

all gilgamesh are the same being. in every appearance. FF13-2 alludes to his ability to hop through the interdimensional rift. hell he does so much earlier in FF8 and in FF5 exdeath tosses him into the rift. plus in dissidia 012 he mentions meeting bartz and wanting to fight him again. hell even in type-0 as the final boss you can say hes the same being. gilgamesh, shinryu and omega are the only being that traverse differing FF universes via the rift. sick huh? :D

Finally got around to getting through ff12 zodiac age in its entirety, really enjoyed the gilgamesh hunt. Like how there was some dialogue and small cut scenes on what would be a side quest end game content, that many players may not see

To begin, this video was FANTASTIC. My favorite of yours so far. However, one point of potential disagreement. I do think that Gilgamesh was referenced in the original FF6, prior to his more traditional appearance in FF6 Advance. I think that Seigfried is a Gilgamesh-lite. Seigfried was a character who had the name of an ancient epic hero, and was a buffoonish swordsman who went around seeking duels. He didn't have many arms, BUT he did have his head wrapped in a desert like fashion such as he appeared in FF8. We also see one of his eyes covered, as in many later iterations, as well. Just a thought!
@jeremycourville72823 жыл бұрын
I have to second this. I distinctly remember that fight and it just screams "Gilgamesh!" to me. I'm pretty sure that Seigfried did the whole "Excalipoor" gimmick too. If that's not a sure sign that he was meant to be FFVI's Gilgamesh, I don't know what is.

I like to think that the game in which Gilgamesh appear for the first time is also the one where he dies. He get banished into the void, he then appear in the other Final Fantasy and then he comes back to save Bartz one last time, sacrificing himself to kill Necrophobia.

So far John DiMaggio has been in four Final Fantasy games: he was the voice of Wakka in X, Gilgamesh in XII (I think he was also Miguelo) and XIII-2, and just recently he voiced Heidegger in the FFVII Remake.

Editing is great, script great, voice spot on. I must say that the tube looping for half an hour was a bit much, so i suggest changing the music up a bit

It’s the same Gilgamesh in all the games, he hops in one world and then another, looking for weapons and opponents to better himself. All for his rematch against his ultimate rival and dearest friend BAAAAAAARTZ
@Cure_Hana4 жыл бұрын
I have trouble believing that the Gilgamesh from IX counts as the same entity; not just because he looks different, but also because of how stoic and underhanded that version is. The primary Gilgamesh doesn’t seem like the type to put on a facade or cheat his way out of a conflict.
@arrontavern89563 жыл бұрын
Soooo Gilgamesh uses weapons from all the other games. This almost makes it sound like all the different games are taking place in different realities, vs all going on a single timeline. Gilgamesh using replicas or originals shows that all the games are existing in a multiverse somehow some way. Maybe?

I like to believe that gilgamesh is the same character in every game, the lore in certain games like 15 call that into question but it's cool to think about. His appearance makes me think that in each world his appearance changes, kinda like in kingdom hearts where worlds like atlantica, halloween town, and monstropolis change sora and the gang into mer people, stitch puppets and monsters respectively, the only difference being that gilgamesh only varies slightly like with number of arms and clothes in games like 8 and 12 or in other worlds it could be more drastic like in ff9.

I hate to correct you guys, but there is no deviation in any of the Gilgameshes (or Gregs, if you are familiar with FF5 Four Job Fiesta). They are all the same Gilgamesh and he is just popping up in the world as he travels the void looking for powerful weapons. Which really ties him to the Gilgamesh of the Fate Stay/Night series.

I enjoy all of his appearances I love the big oaf. But if I had to choose, it would be the dissidia version, I choose this Gil because he got to interact with all the people he helped, battled, and befriended along his dimensions hopping. But 8 and 12 are close though.

Fishing rod? I must have forgotten about that part...damn, I need Zodiac Age.
@AkaTrios5 жыл бұрын
@@LanceKairan Well there are two. The one you get in Balfonheim and one you can get after finishing the Gilgamesh Hunt. You sometimes fish out colored bottles when fishing afterwards that lead you to various places, getting more clues when you go there. After all that, the clues lead you to Barheim Passage, to be more exact the big bridge there, a secluded part at that, only accessible from the West Annex. If you did everything right, you'll find yourself visited by Gilgamesh again, giving you the Matamune Rod which also lets you fish in 2 more areas, making you able to get one of the 3 badges needed for the Wyrmhero Blade.

i remember him being in ff6 on the ghost train, in black armor, looking like a reskin of another ninja looking character in armor, he steals a treasure and jumps off the train, you later see him in the sunken castle in the world of ruin where he steal another treasure, i think you can fight him later to get the items he stole. also ragnorok is a sword you can gain in ff6 in the world of ruin by transforming another sword into it in the 1st city of the game, there is a blacksmith who will reforge it but i forget the 1st swords name.

11:30 My theory is that after blowing himself up to kill Necrophobia. He didn't immediately recover from his injuries and needed to bandage himself up for a long time. Though it does seem that his sacrifice was well rewarded as he seems to have become a God after his supposed death in 5. Much like Odin did in 4.

dissidia gilgamesh was pretty fun. any time he used his EX move, he would roll a diffrent weapon for each hand, sometimes getting all exaliburs, doing double damage, getting all exalipoors, doing nothing but 1 damage, hitting 8 times with every attack, and his nagita would double his range of all abilitites. he also has quite alot of voice lines

If I'm very much not mistaken Gilgamesh appeared in Final Fantasy 6 in the Coliseum yes but also on the Doom train or Phantom train whichever version of the game you're playing. He wasn't a last-minute an on because he was in the original Super Nintendo Final Fantasy 3 version of that game. And also in the subsequent re-releases of Final Fantasy 6 as Final Fantasy 6. He's definitely there and he has a short dialogue with your team about looking for the Ultimate Weapon. In fact he swoops down and steals a treasure chest that the player is it going for.
