Joe, it's your friend, Dave in North Carolina, U.S.A. again. You may recall that I've commented on your channel in the past. You have been a great help to me over a period of time, both in inspiration as well as in confirmation and I thank you. I believe that today we are closer to the time when we will see the culmination of all things then ever we have been and as a result we are seeing the last remaining prophecies in scripture playing out in the world around us. I try to count this as joy as Paul recommended we do but as things become more critical I fear for the people I've become close to over the years in various churches. I know it sounds crazy, but for years I've been searching for a church home to no avail. Some time ago I started attending with a friend at a local Pentecostal church and left because a number of small groups ministers were dragging me to the alter to speak in tongues and urging me to babble incoherently as the rest of that church was doing. The feeling was that if I didn't my salvation was in doubt. Paul wrote that tongues would cease and prophecy would fail. He also said that if there was no one in the congregation who could give an interpretation that it was vanity. In all the time I went there never did I hear a single interpretation given. My friend was upset when I stopped going with him and when I explained that I felt like it would've been a slap in the face of the Holly Spirit had I feigned the utterance of the spirit he called me a heretic and that was the last I saw of him. Most recently I'd been in a United Methodist church and I became close to an associate pastor who, when I first met him was finishing up at the seminary and over a period of five years we maintained a rather nice friendship and spent time in prayer together. Everything was fine until one day he expressed his views on the adversary and told me that instead of the personage of the evil one there was a sinister cloud that floated around and randomly descended upon people to create havoc in their lives and then went on to do the same to others. When I told him that it was written that the Devil walks to and fro like a roaring lion looking for those he might devour and that didn't sound like some ambiguous cloud to me there was a noticeable distance between us from that time forward. He also told me that the end of this age was probably a good thousand years up the road, which is a contradiction to the obvious meaning of the parable of the fig tree. Needless to say I could no longer attend there. Now he has been given a church of two thousand members to shepherd and I fear for them all. Currently I'm looking for a home church as that may be a solution that is closest to the way the early church operated and I'll try that, but it could be a topic for you to address in a video. If I'm experiencing problems of this nature I'm sure I'm not the only one. I firmly believe that we are coming into the last of the last days and the apostasy is clearly in the churches. I believe that if you lead a church and you aren't advancing the Kingdom of God there may be a special place in hell for you and preaching what's in your heart if it's contrary to what's written in the Holly Bible is a grave sin. Perhaps you'll feel led to speak on this subject and offer a bit of advice so that those of us who struggle to find a spiritual home might receive some needed guidance. I'm open to suggestions. Thank you, Joe for all you do. Maranatha!

Dave, you are not alone in the search for a sound church. My huband and I have lost zeal for our church also, due to some questionable things. I'm not sure where to turn. It breaks down a lot of big topics and goes in depth about a lot of struggles women go through daily. Thanks for the recommendations, I’ve never heard of most of the Authors, so I’m grateful to have this list. Joe, I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer either :D I love a good devotional, but I have to be careful, because sometimes I rely on someone else’s quiet time too often by reading too many devotionals rather than do my own work to dig and search the Scriptures. I’ve made it a habit to read through the Bible every year, but I have to be honest I don’t get a whole lot out of it, because I don’t spend additional time to read contemplatively, or to write notes in a notebook. So I really appreciated your great tips on studying the Bible video! One last comment, FYI Another great book on the Attributes of God is by A W Pink.

May I suggest you give Derek Prince a chance to guide you closer to our Lord. Love you Joe, you are delightfully human in your generous way of teaching.i thank you for sharing the Word from God our Farther . John Bennett says it only takes 72 hours to read the hole Bible! (He has read it many times)! I often need much time to read and meditate or grasp the truth mening of just one small chapter. Some times I disapeare in to the scriptures and I have been in another world and suddenly I have read many pages or chapters. I believe it is the will of my Lord Jesus Christ. Derek Prince is a wonderful Teacher whom God used and is still using even though he is with the Lord. As for your pace in Bible Study, do not be discouraged. Lol I couldn't resist the title. I used to binge read books. Then I put them down and binge read the bible. When I start I can't stop. When I stop I can't stop thinking thoughts to God, which causes me to get insomnia. When I use to buy books, I'd look at the chapters. I'd then go to the end of the book and read a little to see if it won't tickle my fancy. Then I'd go and read the most attractive chapter. Then I'd read a bit of the beginning of the book. If I liked it, then I bought it. I like to have the big picture then break it down. I thought I had to share this with you! Anyway, God bless you! You have such a good attitude.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I do have my ways. The best way to remember what you have just read... is to ask yourself a series of questions about the subject matter. Do I believe this? How can I disprove this? How can I justify this? What does this mean, in regards to the other things I know? Etc, etc... With each new question you ask, you attach a new mental "hook". Before you know it, what you have just read becomes a part of you. Here's a poem... Enjoy ❤🙏 A Poor Wretched Mans Joy A poor wretched man at his ropes end Without sufficiency of income or pay The due date for his multitude of debts Was the morning of the very next day He knew precisely what was the reality And had already counted the cost The collectors will arrive in the morning And his family's house will be lost He descended into the quicksand of guilt Fear and grief compounding despair Not a single strand of hope within reach Left for this man to cling to was there He looked upon his wife and children For his failure he's solely responsible But for him no course of action remained Nor any solution seemed possible Behold, a dreaded knock at the door Much to this poor wretched mans dismay "Why, oh why, are the collectors so early?" "Oh please, oh please, not today!" He then proceeded to open his door And there in the rain holding a letter Stood an innocent little messenger boy Sent from a friend and not a collector The messenger boy told the poor wretch "Your old friend in fact did so inherit" "An absolute fortune of pure gold" "And with you he intends to share it" His friend had penned a letter of promise "I will meet you at the bank tomorrow" "Then I will pay each one of your debts" "I will release you from pain and sorrow" Having read the letter from his dear friend Delivered by that messenger boy The poor wretched man leaped in the air With an incredible abundance of joy His spirit was filled with the joy of hope And from fear he gained his release He bore no more grief nor felt any sorrow Guilt and despair transformed into peace But what did the poor wretch truly have And on what did such great joy depend? He still had no money of which to speak of Just a promise in letter from a friend If the poor wretch believed not his friend What outcome would then have resulted? He would have remained in his despair And his friend would feel greatly insulted But this poor wretched man was faithful He believed and trusted his friend Faith in a promise was the very foundation On which that poor wretch's joy did depend This is the power of faith and belief And consequence of distrust and doubt One leads to joy and the other to grief But that's not all that his story's about Those who have ears now let them hear A layer of meaning beneath his story Things are not all that they would seem Within in the words of this allegory The poor wretched mans friend is Jesus The debt owed is for sins and depravity The collection date is impending death And that poor wretched man is humanity Trust His promise of life and redemption Let not doubt and despair to remain Believe in Him who paid for salvation The Joy of hope in His grace is to gain

Hey there, brand new to your channel, and I'm hooked, wish I would have found u long ago. I'm learning SO much, I love how you break things down. I also have a short attention span, it's hard for me to concentrate and hard for me to remember things. So I love how you break things down I'm taking lots of notes ☺️. The book I'm reading right now is called.. IMAGINE HEAVEN by John Burke and I love it...I very much recommend it!! In another video you did where you're talking about different ways to prepare yourself when reading the Bible doing prayer pacing getting a journal finding a time during the day making yourself comfortable and an elder mentor. I'm not sure if you heard of these men but one is Paul Begley he is a pastor on here and talks about world events that associate with the Bible and then Barry scarbrough another amazing man and now you ☺️ love your videos already and I subscribed a few days ago. Ty for all that you do God bless you and looking forward to more videos while catching up on your other ones. 😅 WFS🕊️ 🌱🌾🏵️

Thanks for the helpful list, will "slowly" get around to some of these. 😀 Regarding Wayne Grudem, no book other than the Bible informed and inspired me as much as his Systematic Theology. He's 100% in the Reformed camp, but treats other points on the spectrum with respect.
