A beautiful review, AC. Eau Noire is often compared to Amouage Sunshine Man. Not sure if you'd agree ? From your review, Eau Noire sounds far more complex. I find the same lack of versatility with Sunshine Man. Despite it's name, I wear it only on cooler evenings. But Eau Noire does sound far more complex. LIDGE smelling good on a warm Summer morning ? Who would have thought ! Must try that, AC. Someone told me Clive Christian X for Men smells great on a hot Indian Summer day. Never would have thought of that either. And you've given me Aspen for next Summer :-). And Ronin. A great film ! One of the best car chase sequences ever. Second only, in my opinion, to the one in "French Connection" (the original Gene Hackman version). Great stuff, AC !

O yes!!! I agree with the car chase comparison. This weekend I am going to watch them back to back. I only have a small decant of Sunshine man so I will have to check but Eau Noire is complex for sure. LIDGE was a revelation but I haven't tried it myself in summer, it just is so dense for summer but it came off smelling amazing. I have to try CC X, never smelled it. In fact I havent tried any from the CC line. Which one would you recommend I try first? Would be quite nice to know about your thoughts on Aspen for summer.

AC, I've tried only No.1 and X from the CC line. No.1 comes across as a dusty white floral to me. And X has a dark-green-with-brown vibe to it and somehow also manages to stay bright. I get a fine cardamom note in both. Not sure if it is listed as a note but I do get that vibe. They both exude refinement, but my god are CC prices prohibitive ! Have a good weekend, AC !

MFK, did this..really? Genius. I heard he made Le Male before twenty. I may have sniffed this two years ago when I picked up Feve, and Ambre Nuit..now the whole line has been watered down. Sakura, was nice. How can you not like cherry blossom! ..back to the original Prive line, I still have my generous sample of Our Ispahan from Dior, and that stuff has got to be the most potent juice to date. It's a nuclear bomb..it's unwearable. Eau Noir sounds intriguing.

I agree Bob, this is a massive X-factor juice. Oud Ispahan is really a monstrocity in its own right and so is Leather Oud. I have never smelled Sakura but I will now make an effort to try it, as you mention it , cant be bad can it? I did not realise that the whole line has been watered down.

AC, it's practically a whole new line brought by Demachy..You will see it next time you run into a nicer Dior Boutique/Counter. Ambre Nuit and Feve still appear (as shadows of what they were), and some other familiar, but with many new floral editions. If you are in great need to get a decant of Feve or Ambre Nuit (the good stuff), lmk. We'll figure a way.. Ohh...I wish Mitzah wasn't gone...Oh, how I wish I could get my nose on this! Cheers!

Oh man, looks like I have missed the boat on Leather Oud. i was speaking to the Rep at Selfridges in london and she said it has been calibrated to modern tastes, which I believe means making daring fragrances docile :))).

Thanks for the heads up on the line mate, so nice of you to help with decants :). I do have vintage versions of FD and BdA but I have run out of Mitzah. I know a seller on ebay in the UK who has older versions of Mitzah, FD and BdA, I source mine from them.
