Awesome collection! By the way, that marje vase tech comment is spam. I’d delete it. As far as what to try, boy. You have alot of great things. Eau noire, but I’m sure you’ve tried to buy one. I have an email for dior at harrods that can get you mitzah, and possibly Eau noire, but they use pounds and 250ml costs us $400 plus shipping so I don’t know if you wanna do that. I also love gris dior, lucky, oud ispahan, bois dargent is a love for me.

I think its one of Demachy's best works TBH the 2017 reformulation with the elemi instead of Myrhh is a little more scratchy and shouty while the 2012 version with Myrhh is more gentlemanly... so glad I have a 200ml bottle of that 2012 eau sauvage parfum 🙃

I know a lot of Fragcom rips on Demachy and I understand why you say he can’t make his own scents, but personally, I think Sauvage is arguably the most important and influential masculine of its era (and I don’t think it’s because of Johnny Depp). Whether you like it or not (I do), I think that should be respected. I can imagine people like you, twenty-five years from now, waxing poetic about how the OG batches of Sauvage were incredible and paying hundreds of dollars for bottles. I was young when Fahrenheit was released, and not paying attention, but it wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of thirty year olds were not fans of it in 1989.
@RamseytheRam
@RamseytheRam 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing that Michael... you have a point and I think its a damn good point as far as creating the most popular fragrance goes ... i think the personal beef i have is the normal sauvage edt is everything I despise about what the perfume world and our culture has become. Mass appealing & souless, generic & boring, you smell it everywhere & chanel started the "blue" fragrances fad and Dior siezed the opp and just advertised and marketed the piss outta it and then flankering it to death. Not flankers 20 years apart like opium but every single year the Dior fragrences arm lived off of Sauvage sales like a vampire...having a hit that big allowed them to get lazy and stop innovating becuse sales were coming in no matter what crap they put out (and even tho there were some good releases there were some CRAP releases... i still shudder every time i hear the name holy peony🤢😖). Luckily i think they did a good job with the parfum of sauvage. Like i said, its the only "blue" fragrance i own. I dont own blu de chanel or elysium or dylan blue or eros or any of that... i think the parfum is the best sauvage flanker even better than the elixer because i like the olibanum/elemi & musc mixture. If people end up paying thousands of dollars for vintage sauvage it wont surprise me but they will be paying for nostalgia not because its a great fragrance like Patou Pour homme or Derby etc... . That being said I think Demachy's best work is fahrenheit absolute & eau sauvage parfum & dior homme intense & dior homme parfum... all 3 of those lines are not his creation. Eau sauage is Roudnitska & fahrenheit is almairach & sieuzac & Dior Homme is Olivier Polge. I also dont like how he reformulated and put his name all over the classics in the prive collection like he created them when he really knows it was kurkdjian & menardo amongst many others... I am not saying Dior will be better with Captain Kirk at the helm. I dont know if its a good or bad thing now that Demachy is gone... but time will tell. Interacting with everyone has been my favorite part of creating this channel so please keep the comments coming Michael even if we disagree on details. Cheers mate 🍻

@@RamseytheRam I personally disagree about how you describe Sauvage and don’t think marketing alone is responsible (I don’t think it’s that simple). I respect your opinion though. I also like Eau Sauvage EDT and Pour Monsieur EDT, highlighting the subjectivity of this art form

YES thats right! It really is like a favorite color lol... i really have a hard time enjoying eau sauvage edt & pour monsier edt ... if you like those fragrances have you tried tiffany cologne for men? Don't be afraid to like Sauvage. I keep saying it wear what you love. I think it is a well made fragrance. I don't own a bottle because its not to my taste and I wouldn't reach for it so won't spend the money. But if you like it, why not. Sauvage is actually quite an expensive formula compared to many niche. Great lavender, elimi, pepper and geranium to list a few naturals. I heard it contains 10% Muscenone. Muscenone is my favourite musk, so beautiful and strong. It is also incredibly expensive. Not many houses (niche included) would be prepared to put that amount into a fragrance. They could have used Galaxolide or a another cheaper musk. It makes the fragrance pop, smooth, and smell damn good tbh. Yet, I still don't want a bottle or moved to buy one. Loved this video btw 👌🏼

@@RamseytheRam Nooo lol. My nose is still learning. It's actually incredibly hard to pick out notes. I chatted to a student studying olfactive psychology, big word 😂, he said the human brain can pick out around 5 notes max in a perfume. Everything else is hidden in a blur. You can get an effect from Hedione for example, it's like air making space. The musks are bloody hard to identify, especially if many are used. I struggle to differentiate them in a perfume a lot. Woody ambers forget it, they all bloody smell the same to me. The more raw materials I smell and study, you can pick them out sometimes if they are overdosed in a perfume. For instance smelled sundowner today (the drydown is a beautiful smooth amber tobacco btw , lovely!), in the opening I smelled the synthetic used to boost a tobacco note. It's in tobacco Oud etc as well. You must notice it. Like if you smell Cilantro in food. It's there. Doesn't mean its bad btw, you just can't miss it. Also, I could not do what you do. Firstly my collection is shite compared to yours. And secondly, I haven't got a smooth Texan accent 😉 haha. I am learning a lot from your videos btw. A lot!

Thanks Jura means a lot coming from someone of your knowledge level. Woody ambers all smell the same to me as well... that amberwood accord if you will. I have three 10 ml decants that should be here monday or tuesday of next week with the dawn, the moon & the night and i know outside of the night the moon & dawn might be the best use of those woody amber materials ever ... shocked malle is charging what he is for something so synthetic... hence why I am doing the decants. Cheers Jura🍻

You may have to offer a blu ray box set of your family portraits at some point. This is important stuff. Really enjoyed this one! Dior is a big part of my own collection but only the current versions of everything, so it’s nice to hear about the older/original formulations. Demachy gets a ton of shit but he did indeed do some good. He pays homage well to those who came before him. And despite everything, I absolutely love Dior Homme 2020 for what it is. Dior may have intended the utilitarian, minimalist design of their Privé bottles to signal an emphasis on the juice, but in my opinion it failed. They should fire the design staff responsible for such a bad decision, and design proper luxurious, opulent bottles. And again noses are different. Edmund Rudnitska created the classic masterpiece Eau Sauvage EDT and you say his best creation is Eau du Hermés? With the body odor note of cumin? We have very different noses, despite the fact we both like old school vintage. Having said that, I agree Farenheit is a 10/10 classic masterpiece.

Yes it is interesting how subjective this whole hobby is isnt it? Thats why I never judge others or claim to be an authority... but I will give you my 2 cents & for me eau d'Hermes is Roudnitska's masterpeice 😆 But that is just one mans opinion... eau sauvage EDT hasnt grown on me yet 😊
