I like this style where you break down the nose and their creations. It’s really cool to learn more about them. I’m pretty experienced on scents but lack the knowledge on the noses behind them so I appreciate these streams thank you! One of the best channels I found. Very different from the daily grind view snatchers..

Just got a 16-year-old bottle of Antaeus with silver sprayer with 55ml left out of 100ml for 80 bucks and I'm so happy, it smells amazing! Also, Demachy is amazing! I love his work for Dior and other brands, especially for the Dior masterpieces that he created!

Wow, somehow this vid skipped my feed? Anyway, consider me fed. 😁 Love the refined aspects of Demachy's work myself. The myrrh is done exceptionally well in Colonia Intensa and Eau Sauvage parfum. Can't stand Sauvage Elixir and DH 2020 (eventhough he was probably just following the briefs), but his reinterpretations of Polge's Dior Homme make up for it several fold. Nearly all is forgiven. 😂Nearly.

The OG is a top 3 fragrance of all time for me so I doubt I will find them better than the original ...but I would love to sniff them one day

For men's Chanel at least, the Edt/cologne wording above the Chanel name usually signifies an older bottle/vintage.

What exactly is the matter with the Dior Privée Cologne releases? Were they initially sold parallel to the normal fragrances, or are they the predecessors? I think they colognes didn't have an atomizer either... I'm just wondering because I came across an Ambre Nuit Cologne on Parfumo some time ago and couldn't quite place it.

Did Demachy do Acqua Di Parma’s Colonia pure? Because that one is an incredible bubble bath soapy citrus cologne. Wouldn’t buy it again soon but it was a great time. Scent of the day is Sultan Pasha’s Basmati Rose but more importantly for you Ramsey is I have a spray of vintage samsara on my left forearm… The same samsara that I bought from anooj all the way back in march. It’s as incredible as I remember it. Also I have a metric crapton of decants from him as well. The full list is put to video on my channel. Cheers

I love some of Demachy's work, not all of it though, that's for sure. I would be really curious to know what he would be capable of creating on his own. Is he completely retired by now?? It was a big surprise to me that he was replaced by Kurkdjian of which I'm personally much less of a fan to say the least.

I think he is completely retired... that LVMH $ was good to him and his bank account 😂😂😂 But I agree with you and I would love to see him release something maybe a swansong finalie of artistic frags to close out his career... like for example I think of Jean Claude Ellena as retired but he is still releasing Heaven can wait for Frederic Malle in a month or two .... something like that would be awesome 🤌🤌🤌

Splendid content as always 👍.... although I disagree somewhat with your intro of Demachy, because there's a tendency especially with perfume lover's to over romanticise perfumers as if they should be living as 19th century penniless artists and put aside all career aspirations, providing for the family and financial security etc... in pursuit of their artwork with no relation to actual reality... and yet we ourselves put those in the forefront of our minds in our own working industry's. There is your small niche / indie house's that are more artisanal and happy to break even, however they tend to be run by people who actually have a full-time time day job or a supporting partner paying the bills.... the rest of the perfume industry is a serious business and being profitable has to be No1 priority. Also every sectors have a range of options, cars, clothing ect, we can't all be provocative / challenging and driving around in our bright orange convertibles & versace floral shirts! 😄.... fact is, many people like understated and 'blending in' even if it's considered being a 🐑 by others.... and it's the 'safe' best sellers that allow the experimental releases to be funded even if expecting a commercial flop. More often than not the revered fragrances were actual flops in their day and discontinued.... and they are the type that many 'fragheads' like to have in their collection for show but isn't worn hardly, if ever. I just find it so strange that perfumers are sometimes label as sellouts for being commercially aware.... imo Francois Demachy is one of the greats and his ability to produce masterpieces along with 'keeping the lights on' as a positive attribute to his legacy not a negative. Worn a few sprays of my Ungaro Ombre De La Nuit in tribute to the man 😏

I agree with all of what you said Andy ... and who knows how much he was making at Dior... would you or I walk away from a job paying Millions to be artistic? Still I think the portrait of the man is half creative Genius & half commercial sellout. .. i think LVMH is just a cancer on all they touch and money is the root of all evil, the flowers from that root just dont smell as good unfortunately 🤷🏻‍♂️ wait for my new celene videos to come and what I think about THAT brand 🙄😂

The O.G Feve formula actually smells like a Dutch moccatart. I don’t think you will like it, as its a far more thick and heavier scents compared to the reformulation.

@@RamseytheRam I was following along the Oliver Polge created the original storyline. the powdery iris is just gone in the current Hommes (except for the little left over in the current intense). It now became the modern synthi sandelwood ISO E super crap. The (probably) discontinued Parfum is another bummer. Oliver Polge's original is clearly superior to the current line. Looking forward to the Le Lion which is my favorite in his portfolio. Demachy was clearly following trends and not creating them in his last years.
