And he was lucky to be pitted, I would have ordered him to fall behind Max to defend Norris 5 laps before he came in. It’s the result he was fated for anyway, so all he did was hold up Max and prevent him from sticking to Oscars DRS. Poor straetgy by Red Bull, they need to be far more ruthless with Sergio. He needs to just be a pawn for Max at this point, he’s useless at everything else.

Checo can have no complaints if he's released. I'm probably the only person to think this, but I'd put Daniel Ricciardo in the 2nd seat. He's been performing reasonably well as of late, but the bigger factor is that he's been proven to handle the on-the-nose type of Red Bull Max likes where others couldn't. It's not just about getting a good driver, but someone who can handle that driving style in particular. It also frees up the RB seat for Lawson. If Ricciardo fails, then you've not lost anything and he can be let go knowing you've tried. At least he could buy some time until Sainz is free. Yuki has been on his best behaviour lately, but I'd want him to prove his temperament over the course of a full season before promoting him.

and what if lawson fails? i absolutely don't understand the hype about the guy. he had a P9 (not on merit) which he inherited on the last lap due to russell parking his mercedes into the fence. so essentially a P10 in 5 races. his last race he was in the gravel at qatar unassisted on lap one , he recovered to finish dead last in his final F1 race. ricciardo returns and finishes P7 in mexico with a broken hand for alpha tauris best result in almost 2 years. what am i missing about lawson?

Max kicked arse in the wet so it just shows how brilliant he is, but yeah if it stays like this I don't see max winning another race this year. Spa was a redbull track and they had nothing special out there. If you look at the calendar, mclaren will easily win at monza, zandfoort, USA, Brazil maybe even Singapore. Merc will take the rest. Max just needs to get podiums now. Obviously still fight for the win but needs to understand that is it stands that car probably the 3rd best on the grid now.

RB20 didn’t lose pace. It is faster than the RB19 but the other teams have had more windtunnel and cfd time than RBR and thus had the opportunity to test more updates. The other teams have gained more pancettas RBR. RBR is NOT SLOWER.

His job isn't to be loyal, his job is to win constructors championships. That is what brings in the money, and keeps his team at the front. And being a nice guy doesn't win you titles either. None of the greats are/were genuinely nice people while they are on track and on the job. Also Checo held up Max Massively in the first Stint. Max could have easily been right up there fighting for the win if Perez hadn't stuck him in a very slow DRS train for the first 10 laps allowing Hamilton to get a 10 second lead. Max, Norris, and "Cheating" Russell were much faster and could have kept up. Checo was just horribly slow and wouldn't get the hell out of the way.

They had a higher downforce setup because they were pretty much the only team to respect the rules with plank wear which means a higher ride height. Nobody else did and it doesn't seem like the FIA is bothering to check plank wear. Otherwise the only two in the top 10 that wouldn't be DQ'd would be Max and Checo and that's the reason why they aren't bothering to check it.
