11. SOT: Christian Lacroix (in English) - "The colour red, this is very important and a very strong element. And we have a lot of fur and embroidered fur, because we have to work everything we touch at the House Of Lacroix into the Lacroix style. So we have perhaps less embroideries than usual, but we have a lot of effects and uh, with a little powder and gold and silver and heavy, heavy jewels are part (reaches for a coat) of the coat. For instance, you have behind a very heavy belt which is removable. You have all of these effects, it's quite...not heavy, but very, very rich."
12. Seventeen shots of models on the catwalk.
13. Cutaway of Dennis Hopper watching the show.
14. Four more shots of models.
15. Shot of the wedding gown - an intricately-jewelled bodice.
16. Shot of Christian Lacroix arriving to greet the bride. The guests throw carnations onto the catwalk.
17. Cutaway of Elena De Bourbon (daughter of the Queen Of Spain) and her husband, Jamie De Marichalar.
18. SOT: Ivana Trump (in English) - "I thought today's collection was unbelievable. People go for Couture because of couture and sometime you see high ready-to-wear, rather than couture. Sometimes, you see unbelievable shows and but it's unwearable at many times. I mean, almost every dress, I think every dress that was shown today you can wear."
19. Cutaway of American designer Donna Karan congratulating Christian Lacroix.
LACROIX DAZZLES IN PARIS
Christian Lacroix took his audience on a fantastic trip yesterday (9/7/02) at his Haute Couture Show in Paris.
Spectators were treated to the models taking on an almost surreal look, covered in jewels and head-dresses.
The colours were equally flamboyant. Scarlet, bright pink, turquoise and coloured fur all came together in one glorious whole.
For his Winter 2002 Collection, Lacroix took many of his traditional outifts, like corsets and things from the 18th Century and softened them for the new Millennium.
But among the grand designs, there were several surprises, particularly a fur sweatshirt and silver combat trousers.
Then there was the long, satin gown and a black-checked lame pantsuit.
The show was also notable for its magical qualities away from the clothes, which is what made it one of the week's big talking points.
