I lived in Germany for several years. The Euros are also mostly Christian but they don't let religion and politics control stem treatments and other medical treatments controversial in the USA as much. Euros have been around for way more centuries than us. Universal health Care is more designed for prevention and curing. We do the opposite of that here in the USA. CMC is doing all he can to get back on the field at 100%. I admire that. I picked him 1.01. This video tells me he won't play a single snap this year. Thank You Doc Morse for the injury information we don't hear anywhere else.

Religious people, such as myself, have no problems with stem cell therapies, as long as they're coming from living humans, rather than dead humans who died from unnatural causes (such as aborted fetuses). Since Germany and most Western European countries have had stricter abortion laws than the US, Christian is most likely receiving adult stem cells from himself or another living adult donor. Contrary to popular belief, embryonic stem cell research and therapies (stem cells from aborted fetuses) has never been banned in the US. States and the private sector have been free to fund such projects. The Bush administration just banned it at the federal level. California is a leader in embryonic stem cell research. So, if Christian were getting that, he could have just stayed home and gotten that in CA.

There are different types of stem cells. The type of stem cell banned in the US is human embryonic stem cell which means the cells are extracted from a human bwing in the first weeks of development. The result of the extraction is the death of the embryo. This is an issue for bioethecists and theologians. CMC is 28 years old. He is in the twilight of his Pro career. He attempting to extend his career at the most a few more years.

If you assume his diagnosis is truly only "Achilles tendonitis", would these overseas treatments be effective instantly, or does it take weeks to benefit the swollen tendon? How many series of treatments? Is he being injected everyday for a week, or only a few times on one day? I know its difficult to know without being his doctor.

This confirms scarring on his achilles as far as I'm concerned caused by microtearing as far as I know, basically as a minimum. I'm a medical massage therapist. 6+ month turnaround on stem cell therapies from what I've learned, what say you? And even then, it's experimental. It's basically the same idea as what you're saying. Fraying/twisting of the fibers is one way to look at it - then it heals incorrectly. I had a client once who had the same surgery 3 times because they kept working out too soon cause they were addicted to competitions. CMC reminds me of that because of how much he played through injury already, except without the surgeries. He may need a surgery just to get rid of the scar tissue at this point/break it up with scraping...but honestly manual movement (i.e. massage) likely not enough at this point. I'm not sure if stem cells are enough on their own, though, no matter how advanced they are - just because of how scar tissue locks up. It's like a stuck zipper on a bunch of fibers which causes the tendon to effectively shorten it's range of motion and cause chronic tightness. You can do a lot to release/relax a tendon but microtears are a slippery slope. I can infer what you say happened and that it healed incorrectly, which makes it worse through scarring. Scar tissue can be broken up, but they're basically going to have to microscrape it or something. Not sure if that's even a procedure yet or not. The medical field is still young. It's likely not impossible to break it up through scraping (massage technique), though. It's just so small it would take a ton of sessions, at least, best case scenario. I'd compare it to needing to sharpen a knife to get the burrs to point parallel together. It's probably like a gnawed up knife blade with burrs going either direction and missing some right now (microtears). Repeated sharpening (scraping in this case) can align the burrs (fibers) that are there, but it can't replace what's missing. That's where the stem cells come into play. PSA: those touch your feet stretches you learn in school where people bounce up and down - that alone can cause microtearing. It's important to do it in one fluid motion and hold it instead. Usually it's not a big deal and can heal fine, but it can cause holes in the tissue - typically muscle - but that one specifically affects the achilles tendon. The way they handled this situation tends towards it being more severe than mild - but it's likely microscopic and there's not a ton of people credible/skilled enough to verify it out there yet as far as microtearing goes. You kind of just have to assume it's there without looking. He's going to try to play again this season, but in reality, he probably shouldn't be allowed or he'll be right back where he started imo. He's going to have to lose muscle and rest and build it back up later, which is incredibly difficult for athletes to do. I think he probably has the most stubborn type of personality to be injured, so it has to suck for him, but he needs to rest. Otherwise, he'll be back in Germany next year. He really should have done this as soon as the offseason began immediately following the playoffs, but most doctors don't specifically study muscles/tendons enough to know and I feel like CMC underreported his symptoms until late into his healing process. It's always going to be a question mark so they wouldn't rule him out until he couldn't play and they probably waited instead hoping it was something different. Lingering issues are really best addressed early because it's preventable (imo) if he had more consistent work done on his achilles to break up the scar tissue before it formed so the microtears could heal properly. They can heal without stem cells, but once scar tissue fills it in that's when it becomes complicated. Otherwise, his tendon/muscles might look like microscopic swiss cheese right now filled with scar tissue. Probably one of the most annoying injuries you could face as a superstar RB. Sounds like he's ripping the bandaid and doing his best to just get it overwith. They're going to have to combine therapies to make it really work if that's not standard practice already. If they scrape the hell out of it and THEN give him stem cells, in theory it should heal eventually if they break up the scar tissue. It needs to be inhibited to heal properly imo. Not sure if that's standard practice there or anywhere, though. He'll likely have some scar tissue residual no matter what, though, just because I think you practically need a microsurgery robot to do it 100% or just be extremely thorough and approach it macrocosmically.

You have pain, you have an injury and at his age an Achilles injury is probably end of his career at his current level. Anything that may be serious like a break, tear, or this case micro tears takes 6 weeks before it is healed. He could be getting things he does not want the NFL to know about or is not available, he should put himself on a shelf at least the 1st 6 weeks of the season so time for treatment is not an issue.

There is little to nothing we don't provide in the United States in the orthopedic industry. Everything mentioned is already done in the US today with FDA clearance, especially PRP treatments (which have never been effective anyway). How do I know? Because I work in this exact field for a company that makes all these treatments and know some of the best orthopedic surgeons in the country. Fyi, stem cells don't work for this stuff. It's a bunch of hogwash. They even do these treatments in the US and stem cells for knees can even be done at some of the most prestigious places like Penn. And they'll all tell you it's a waste. The amount of misinformation that is told to people is just mind boggling to me.
