Christians may be SINCERE, but they are SINCERELY WRONG - Anna McBride

Today I spoke with Anna McBride, who got drawn into conservative fundamentalist Christianity as a young adult, but ultimately deconverted as the truth claims of Christianity fell apart.
We touched on many topics, including:
• Slowly getting pulled into conspiracy theories, the New Age movement, and various forms of spirituality.
• As a non-believer, joining a Christian group that lived the "Acts 2" life to the extreme where Christians were required to live in poverty and do ministry for free.
• Starting to study the Bible for herself and becoming convinced that it was true and from god.
• Giving her life wholeheartedly to Jesus as her Savior and getting convicted that she needed to be sold out to and live wholeheartedly for him.
• Becoming increasingly exposed to fundamentalist Christian preachers.
• Getting married with Jesus as the cornerstone of their marriage and home.
• Noticing major discrepancies between what her pastor was preaching vs. what she was reading in the Bible.
• Starting to feel disillusioned in her Christian journey as she began to see severe hypocrisy and division in their church family and Bible study groups.
• Being severely jolted as they went on a missions trip that caused overwhelming anxiety and upheaval.
• Starting to deconstruct Christian culture, starting with the Christian tendency toward extreme sheltering from and escaping the world, as well as fearmongering and manipulation.
• Rejecting the teaching of hell and embracing universal salvation.
• Admitting to herself that there's simply no way that Christianity could be true.
• Enjoying the experience of no longer sensing that god was looking at her and judging her.
• Losing dear Christian friends due to her leaving Christianity.
• Going through the journey of healing from religious trauma.
• Finding more freedom and happiness after leaving Christianity.
