Laetitia Galant Just because the liberty you mention doesn’t adhere to a specific race doesn’t mean it isn’t still liberty. I’d argue that it’s the truest form of liberty, because all people are included under that ideology. When someone is so attached to their ancestry and heritage, to the point where they believe that those who come from the same ancestry as them are much more valuable, true liberty can’t really be achieved. It’s liberty for “your people”, but would you then be able to look at humanity as a whole (assuming that your idea of liberty was implemented) and honestly say that humans are experiencing liberty? Unless you don’t consider non Europeans as human, in which case you would just be arguing against biology. I guess it’s more of a question of valuing individual liberty over group liberty or vice versa. You can’t necessarily have both.

@andrewosullivan348 Жыл бұрын
Used not be conflicted because when I stared listening to Burzum Vargs far right beliefs where so fringe it did not matter, was pretty much a joke to be honest. In the 20 years in between those beliefs have become far more prevalent in broader culture. So that makes me conflicted, I love the song but I cannot separate the artist as much as I used to because his stupid beliefs are now very prevalent in society. For the worse. So long story short I feel conflicted because this song now reminds me of these dumb fucking divisions where in the past it used to be total escapism for me. I could listen to this song and place myself in a fantasy world, grim dark and still beautiful. So to answer your question. Yes I know you can like an artist without agreeing with them. But the artists beliefs and what is going on in the world can have a negative impact on that artists work. Maybe that is the strength of true art or the true impact of an artists that they can produce art the will be continue to be impacted by the zeitgeist (I looked this word up to appear smart). Or maybe you just asked a stupid fucking question try to show how open minded you are. Who knows

This song is very atmospheric, has that medieval, going back to your pagan roots feel. He captured that in the song. I dont have to like Varg or his beliefs to recognize the guy's talent as a musician, being a musician myself. Being Black I never allowed my race or society's expectations of me to limit my individuality. Then again I never really fit in to begin with. I embrace the ancient history of various races of Africa. I know about Marcus Garvey, and the contributions we've made here in the U.S . I don't have knowledge of the other ethnicities within my bloodline. But I would embrace them as that would be a part of me as well, eventhough I'm mostly Black. lol I'm a metalhead we're usually pro-death and misanthropic jk. Good discussion on this song and topic. There's just something about this song. I consider it the best BM song of all time. Good discussion, overall, but Varg has a bit more of a nuanced understanding of race issues than you're giving him credit for. He has discussed how many modern Europeans, especially in southern Europe, probably do have some northern African, etc., ancestry in them, and pretty much all Europeans with dark hair and/or brown eyes have some. He accepts this and has never said that makes them not European, though. He also has discussed the available popular DNA tests, and their flaws that most people don't understand. They define the DNA of a country/region by the DNA signatures of people that currently live there, regardless of whether or not those people have ancestors from that region. I'm sure they somewhat get around this by removing DNA outliers when defining a region, but it still leads to inaccurate and confused results, which is part of the reason why DNA tests of this nature are so inconsistent.

Varg is wrong about his race typicalities, but right about his suspicions of not being the same race. His race typicalities I feel, are mainly about defending the scandinavian races. I'm brown- eyed and brown-haired (slightly blonde in the sun) but so pale as to be confused a hermit scotsman.
@connorrekdahl37543 жыл бұрын
@@bakkermaarten007 I’d say you have a pretty shallow understanding yourself. He is defending the separateness of races as that’s how they function most optimally undeniably. He just so happens to be Scandinavian so that’s why he’s defending it on a personal level but on an impersonal level he thinks all races are equally as fit for their native lands when non mixed and that’s the fundamental argument he makes. He may think that Scandinavians are more in touch with their ancient and native past but that might be what you’re getting confused about when thinking that he really is making the argument as a way to support his own heritage when I really don’t think that is the case exclusively, it’s just what’s most familiar to him so he tells it in a Scandinavian way. This may be a misunderstanding of what you meant so I’m sorry if I misinterpreted your words but this is my response to what I think you generally implied, however feel free to correct my interpretation of it is skewed

As a white nationalist I completely agree with Vin on race, but you seem to think that if we were to find out we were 5% african we would freak out. No it doesn't work like that, you see I would still be 95% European and 95% of all of my ancestors are far more a part of who I am than the 1-5%. If I was 30-40% african then yeah sure, I would redefine my identity, but if that was the case I would've probably already found out by simply looking into the mirror. We don't see other races as lesser beings, we think that all races are unique in their own way and shall therefore be preserved and cherished.

Did Norwegian parents really turn Varg into the Boogeyman? That would be hilarious, and I bet Varg would be honored.

Vin, today you're argument is totally over the top. It is more likely to be a racist If you're atheist? BULLSHIT! Presence, history and social empirical studies show the opposit. Nevertheless great channel, like to see more Black-Metal reviews (Usually the comments are better:) Greetings from Germany And one last wish, make a review of one song from BLOODYWOOD, No BM it is a indian band ( streetmetal/ folk)

I always just listen to the reaction and then for two or so minutes afterwards when they still talk music. After they stop discussing music and enter the psuedophilosophical lyric analysis I leave. Vin just always manages to come up with some incredibly arrogant or ignorant shit, he should learn to be a bit more critical and humble with his arguments. Not to mention that I dont give a shit about lyrics and am sure that most metalheads arent, we want to discuss the music.

It is called "If the light takes us".....not "Until the light takes us"....although it is true that that documentary title is a reference to that famous album. That last line refers to modern day pagans/non-Christians growing up in the Nordic old Viking countries, surrounded by churches and state-Christianity, so that he declares that no matter if they should die in battle or be killed, it wont really matter, because they have never truly lived anyways, being born into these modern Nordic lands taken over by the Christians and Christian culture....so in essence, they have never really lived or Experienced their true native Nordic culture

The funny thing is, the way Sori explains race, is what I think about religion. Just a small side-hobby, like someone enjoying taco, or painting nails, that's how the entirety of Sweden thinks about religion as well.

I think Vin might be the only Black Guy that Varg might like!
@Harkon755 жыл бұрын
First of all: I think Sori is right. When you don't use "race" and stuff like that as a definition of who you are, you will use what you have done and accomplished so far as a person. That kind of thinking is the "grown up" way of thinking. People who define themselves over "race" or "ancestry" are stuck in a low and very simple way of thinking (no offense!). Because it's nothing you can choose or influence. But you can choose if you want to be a good person or an asshole. Why i think this way? I'm a serb, born and live in Switzerland. My whole life so far (i'm 43) i have experienced this one thing: in Switzerland people don't fully accept me and call me a serb. In Serbia on the other hand people don't fully accept me and call me a swiss. So i grew up without having any real ancestry i could be proud of. I had no flag i could wave. Because i didn't really belonged anywhere. So what's left for me? The only thing i could do, is to try everyday to be a good man and THAT is what defines my person. Not some origin i have no influence on it. Cheers! And greetings from Switzerland!

No one is just thing. Maybe on simple tests, but getting into it we are all mixed. And for those who want to be bullheaded on the matter lose out on so much. Mostly hypocrites too as the bands and actors they tend to love are mixed. I get some purity for preservation if they choose. But then moat of them are accepting of others for the same fact that they must preserve their bits too. All part of evolutions & our histories. Wish all would live and let be, do unto others..., and just be a good being! Cheers to you & all alike!

@Solitude When you use Pride, you don't think. Instead you're allowing yourself to fall back to your pack/clan/tribe programming. And that's one thing we can't afford anymore. Not at this point in time. This is not about some irrelevant tribe in some Norwegian fjord/Papua NewGuinean valley. This is global. We're all going down. We don't have time for your bullshit.

@Solitude True. But don't tell me you don't want to _conserve_ something, to keep something in p!ay for those that come after you? I know, I do. But for me that something cannot be filtered or sieved out by Ancestry, tribal traditition or other such identitarian nonsense - I want to keep the wealth and complexity of the the high points of human ingenuity and artistry that came upon us. I want to keep that in the world. Again, we can't afford anything less.

Ya varg was never actually a racist or a white supremacist at all that’s just the demonizing derogatory name given to him by western culture. He was merely a strong believer in ethnicities being separate from each other and roaming your ancient land. He didn’t hate any particular “race” for any fundamental reasons, maybe disliked them for circumstantial cultural reasons but thinking Africans, Asians, Mexicans, and white European men should be in their respective genetic environment IS NOT RACIST. He is only labeled as that because his true perspective undermines the global melting pot agenda that the whole world after Germany in ww2 seems to be narrating. On this perspective, I 200% agree with him and will say that his perspective is pragmatically the only thing that can work in all actuality beyond the blinding optimism of the global and specifically western narrative.

I am racist too, I also hate Americans, but I still watch your channel and like it. It does not mean that I agree. Varg has his own ideas and he has influenced many people. Of course people should know their ancestors, they are connected to them genetically. Culture is something extra. Not wanting to know your own ancestry is the real slave-mind.
