I'm rather with Sori on this one. One example: my grandmother tells she tried to read Bible several times, but never understood a thing. She wears a cross, calls herself Christian and probably does fast. Also, she makes cross-shaped charms and hides them everywhere whenever she believes there is some evil spirit in her apartment. She also uses some Christian prayer-like spells to get more health, money or whatever. She worked as a Soviet engineer her entire career, and she is still very sane. In Russian church you can buy special blessed candles to light them up and address God with your wish. Blessed brochures with those special prayers are also sold there. And much more. Another example: Leskov (writer) has an interesting character living in 19-th century Russian village. He is so Christian, that his neighbors (not only illiterate peasants) describe him as follows: "he has read Bible up to Christ, and even further!!111". This kinda suggests that common folks of not so distant past were not very successful with understanding Bible. I suggest that for a "large" fraction of Christians, there is no awakening or mind discipline, or any ethical growth at all. For them, Christianity is just an advanced animism. Bad spiritual entity makes your husband drink a lot? Buy him an icon and a brochure with a prayer against alcoholism. You may say that Western Christianity is different - yes, but not for common folk who didn't get far into Bible. Their demand for trinkets is met with the supply from independent vendors in US and from monopolist Church in Russia. If we follow Vin's unforgiving attitude here, then we must say that stupidity (mental laziness, okay) is a vice. What, well, Satanists often say.

@@SimonH109 they're everywhere. Some things are different, like we had these kids animated movies about bible stories. And they were fairly entertaining. But it was also through the church directly. Its funny though, wasnt the protestant reformation all about calling the church out for scamming people with buying their way out of hell or buying gids help. But they do it just as bad, if not worse in some cases.

Lol that riff at 6:02 is Mustaine's 🤣🤣.. the irony. Just goes to show how integral he was to their early sound. But when James starts spamming the tremolo palm-muted riffs, those are his (the heavy and fast breakdown). The melodic creepy section before the breakdown and solo is Dave's.

@@ludvigtheholyblade259 Even if Dave came up with that (I'm sure you have the details), the sound and execution is entirely Metallica. You obviously won''t find something similar on the speedfreak Killing, but neither will you on more mature Megadeath albums. Dave and his collaborators never get that certain oomph as well as the sleaze of "the remaining members of" Metallica, who no doubt were less skillful but had more of a knack for song writing and more "heart". Or to put it in more neutral but equally fuzzy terms: they simply were "leaning into" it in a different way.

I for the sake of space---I NEVER really learned critical thinking and therefore my 1st go around with the Bible I took EVERYTHING out of context. THIS would lead me down a wrong, bad path...…...now I am deathly afraid to read my Bible for fear I NEVER get what is truly being said so I watch preachers who DO preach the word. I do and am filled with the Holy Spirit and I know he is our teacher but I have such a fear of not getting the true teachings.

I used to go to a local Baptist church when i was a kid and basically the only way my church would get money to help repair the church or have money for materials for Sunday school/ youth group was through donations from the church members. But money was never a requirement, you could also just help the church by donating your time . For instance, helping decorate for VBS, donating food to the church to help a fellow church member in crisis, donating baby bottles to parents in our community, helping out with the skits for VBS. It was all about giving back and doing whatever you could to assist your neighbors and it was like a second family. even the pastor was like a grandpa or an old and wise family member. my church is an example of a good church that does not ask for much and gives back to the community that is why it makes me upset to see some churches taking advantage of people and having greedy people leading them.

We come in all forms. Some will try to use the naivety of others to profit from it. Through religion, through "alternative treatments", etc... It doesn't really matter. The fact that it is a direct jab at those that use The Way as means to obtain power and wealth makes that much more special to me. There are a lot of televangelist that are selling their Miracle Waters and crap. My ex-mother-in-law was terminal. She sent every bit she had to those idiots praying for a cure. She somehow blindly continuously supported those obvious millionaires and they're flashy lifestyles. When we were finally able to fly down to see her again, we found her living in poverty and filth which worsened her condition. We altered our plans and spent months there gutting the house, fixing it up and taking care of her. Sadly she never could see that her health improvements ultimately came from love and happiness. I agree! I'm a Catholic, and I know we're not perfect! But that's the point, we're all sinners that gather together, to listen to God's word! Even if just for an hour a week, it's something!!!

Something that you two may produce an interesting reaction to would be Deicide's "Father Baker's"

You should do Send Me Your Money by Suicidal Tendencies if you want to keep with the televangelist theme.

Dave Mustaine claims he wrote that kind of muddy riff that follows the intro riff of this song that repeats in parts of this song . Sounds like his riffing style .

After I just watched the opening of 'The Hateful Eight', I now notice Sori's shirt design and consider my "terrible privilage" of recognizing the oft'-mentioned "Christ Pose" in movies old and new. From horror films to 'Batman Begins', I dropped a few words to mark the times we live in: Jeepers Creepers, "Finders Keepers". "Scarecrow" or Jesus? Can't close my Peepers!

The name Leper Messiah is taken from a lyric in David Bowie's song Ziggy Stardust. You should react to David Bowie again.
