14:20 Master of Puppets is actually about drug addiction and specifically addiction to cocaine and heroin. The lyrics are pretty explicit, I mean... "Veins that pump with fear", "Taste me, you will see / More is all you need / Dedicated to / How I'm killing you", "Needlework the way", "Chop your breakfast on a mirror", "I will occupy / I will help you die / I will run through you / Now I rule you too". The song is written from the perspective of the drug itself, being the eponymous Master of Puppets "pulling the strings" of the addicted. 18:50 The Thing That Should Not be is the title of a novella by H. P. Lovecraft which inspired the song.

Master of Puppets song is about drugs. It is supposed to sound chaotic at times. The drug is the master. The melodic part is the high you get from the drug and the chaotic parts are the drug messing with you. This album came out in 1986 not 1989. Kill Em All is the most Thrash sounding in IMO.

Generational music tastes kind of fuck up everything. The record companies control all of that shit. Yes, they even controlled Korn, Deftones, all of that shit. They know the limits of albums sales and the market saturation. Only the very top bands can call their own shots and make albums when they want and how they want. Metallica did this. They can do whatever the hell they want. But the sad thing is, people get sucked into a genre and reject....or try to reject anything before it. Just like the Nu Metal fans did to metal before it. But it just didn't work. Bands like Metallica came from the underground and stayed there for years....earning it in the clubs and word of mouth, not some video. That's been lost in music. Maybe it's coming back? Because there are no real record companies promoting music like it was. The reason why us very old Metallica fans, fans from the club days, still love them is because they were just like us......from the lower class, no money, into skateboards, never cared what the fashion trend was and they hit it hard. We could relate. I don't know your background, but you just can't relate to the old days if you weren't part of it or grew up with nothing. They did it from the ground up living in a fucking van. We had to sneak into clubs for fucks sake.

During Sanitarium, you were talking about that specific chord. It was a double stop. Just to help you out and those who don't know, a single note is called.. well a single note...2 notes played at the same time is called a double stop...and anything that's 3 or more notes played at the same time is a chord. A power chord is when you play the chord's root (tonic) note, the root's octave and the root's 5th...which would be the 5th note played within the root's scale. Which is why power chords are always notated with a 5. G5, B5, A5, D5, etc.... So, a G power chords notes would be G-D-G...G root...D fifth note in the scale...G the octave. I hope that all makes sense. Haha.
