Hey :) I’m Christian Schaffer, and I’ve lived on the road full-time since May 2018. This journey began in 2013 when I left the corporate world to build my career as an outdoor adventure & travel photographer. As a semi-minimalist, I eventually decided to donate/sell most of my belongings and move into my 4x4 Nissan Xterra. After 14 months of SUV living and falling madly in love with the open road - I bought a van and hired a team to build it out. Van life enables me to experience and document the beauty of our natural world on a whole new level, all while having my home and office nearby. My hope is that by sharing my own personal highs and lows along this (sometimes) wild journey, you might be inspired to hit the road or spend more time outdoors. Maybe one day I'll see you out on that open road 🚐

The iPhone camera is actually pretty amazing. Since the iPhone 12 Pro, you can record videos with Dolby Vision. And the iPhone 13 Pro supports Cinema Mode and ProRes for professional editing. Very Pro.

This is such a valuable resource for anyone who wants to start a KZbin channel and thinks they need to get a fancy camera. So many ppl are going to have this iPhone just because that's how it works- and it truly is all about using what you already have! I am not a lover of Apple, but back when I still had an iphone, that's all I filmed with and I know lots of other content creators do the same. Technology is crazy!

It’s amazing how far mobile phone camera technology has come. Obviously it can never compare to a dedicated camera and lens kit, but to be honest, for a device that can fit in your pocket and doesn’t feel like carrying a brick, the images are wonderful.

I make silly music cover videos for fun and wanted the quality without spending a ton. Low light and cinematic mode were really important. You reaffirmed that I made a good decision going to the 13 Pro. I was using a 6s so - whole new world for me. Fun content, thanks for posting :)

@@darrisnelson5223 I started a new video / song with the 13 Pro and it’s unbelievable. I did notice that you have to mail drop the footage to yourself in order to edit it on a PC - no PC editing software can manipulate an unflattened cinematic mode shot yet that I know of. Any other method of getting the video on to a PC resulted in “cannot open this file” errors. I’ll be posting my iPhone 13 Pro footage soon. Waiting on a drummer finish it.

First time I have checked out your travel vlog, I normally watch Kara and Nate (which I still enjoy watching). As I try and begin my own journey their equipment is out of my budget range. I use an iphone 12 to make videos for work, always with a cheap gimbal. We stopped using our mirrorless dslr with a fluid head tripod because the iphone + gimbal were easier to get good results and the moving shots are so smooth

I am using 13 Pro Max right now, was using 12 Pro Max before, and prior high end models too, I always upgrade on day 1 a new phone comes out so that: I am always in warranty; I always get to use the latest phone; and it actually cost less, as there are normally promotions (without installment, 100-150, something like that) and the trade in value of an one year old pro Max is pretty good, so average out, I pay like maybe $200/year to always use the latest phone. And I save money because I am always in warranty: One of my friend was going to trade in a 11 Pro for a new phone after two years, and the phone died two days before trade in, $500 gone. Even if the phone had not die, it still average out to be maybe $200-$250 a year but he was not using the latest phone.
