I would normally agree, but I think the players genuinely like Sides and wouldn't mind. They just don't like that she is in charge and can't make adjustments in the live game. I'm not a huge Sides fan, but she seemed like a big reason behind closed doors, the Fever were so professional and able to be a tight nit team that had each other's back.

No way will Sides be the coach next year or an assistant. Sides (a defensive specialist) coached a terrible defensive scheme that allowed more open 3’s and layups than any other team. Sides held Caitlin back from the up tempo game that made the Fever special when they did it. She constantly resorted back to slow down get the ball into the paint that allowed teams to get back into games they had not business being in. She never once went to her best clutch player (CC) when games were on the line - not even putting the ball in her hands to make the right play. Absolutely has to go.

The first thing I do next year if I’m coaching is have my new enforcer set a screen on any player picking up CC full court and letting them know how it’s gonna be. After they pick up their teeth do it again. Eventually it will slow it down as defenders start looking for the screen.

I forgot about adding an enforcer to the team. They need to add one of those too. Takes me back to when Bill Laimbeer cheap shot fouled Larry Bird in the playoffs. Two games later Robert Parish gave him payback. Chief gave him a tomahawk chop. And nobody on the Pistons came to Laimbeer's defense. You earn what you earn. Other teams need to learn that you mess with CC and your earn what you earn.

Yeah, there's not too many really good coaches in the W. The goal for her should be to shoot for a Sue Bird type career and then exceed that in both championships (4x) and overall stats. Sue was pretty good but I didn't see any MVP awards. She won 3 Peak awards? I think Caitlin can win 4 MVPs and more barring injury to her legs. She be fun to watch no matter where she plays or who's coaching. It would be nice if she has good coaches and a team that has an owner that wants to win. With some changes here, things could become more promising. 🤞🏻

Two things made Sides firing necessary in my opinion. The first is her lack of basketball knowledge which was frustrating to watch. The second thing is her complete lack of backbone. Sides needs to be gone. If you can't do elementary coaching things like, calling time-outs at the start of an opposing run, you shouldn't be coaching. I've seen all the Fever games from start to finish and it's the same patter. She will let the run deficit go to double digits before calling a timeout to regroup and make adjustments.

Yes!!! Sometimes I can't tell if she's really that clueless or she just doesn't care. She never gets excited or animated during the game. If you can't get anything out of it, then you still have time to run some type of quick motion or Princeton type cut. It's also hard to blame her for losses to the top 4 because they played most of their games at the start of the season. I understand it is hard to make videos when you got litle news. But making another one about "Sides is about to be fired" is so wrong in so many lvls. You said, very poor job of Sides with a team that got CC, KM and Boston. But what other players Fever got?? This 3 players are the only ones above decent on Fever team: 1. CC is amazing on attack but really really bad at defense (0 experience on playoff - ofcourse 1 year) 2. KM can be a top player, or enter on drible drible drible drible mode (0 experience on playoff) 3. Boston is a solid player all over (0 experience on playoff) So you got only 3 players, one is a rookie, the other was on the second year, and none of the 3 got experience on playoffs....all the rest of Fever players suck (it is true, and stats don't lie about that, you can make a case for HULL cus she is a valid defender, but on attack.......jesus she got a average of 3 points per game in the last 3 years). With all this, Sides just made the best Fever season in that last couple of years (by far). She put a pathetic team, with only 2 young talent players and a KM that is unpredictable and made to the playoffs. I'm far away from being a Sides fan, but i think she conquer the right to coach another year. The pressure that was on Side shoulders this year was really heavy. With CC, the growth of AB into a true star, and KM growing toward being a superstar, they have all the tools they need at the top. A coach and GM that could develop the roleplayers, the Fever should clearly be a over .500 team. Lexi might be a good one to keep and develop. Katie Lou is under contract for 2025 at $180,250 and Dantas at $100,000. You can hope that GSV pick one of these in the expansion draft but why would they. Also why would a team trade for them. Also why would Indiana cut them and be forced to pay their salary. Katie Lou friends with CC will be on the roster next year. Dantas could be cut and the Fever eat the 100k. I doubt it though. A new coach could bring a decent role for her. $1,507,100 is next years cap.

IF Christie Sides was going to get fired, she would be the first one out. They usually go top down with coaching changes. I think you are going by what you hope, and want, and adopted the delusion that it's what it is. She may eventually get fired. However, despite people like you crying saying Sides is a bad coach and needs to be fired, what the Franchise sees is a coach that was able to make the post season in her second year with the team. It is too soon for the Franchise to know what percentage is responsible for getting to the post season. IMO I don't think that the Fever will be true contenders for a championship until 2026, so I will belivev they will keep her on for at least next season, and examine her performance, and make a decision then.

Protect CC, AB, Kelsey, Lexie, Temi, and either Nalyssa or Grace. Renegotiate with Erica Wheeler or make her an assistant coach. Let go: Dantas, Wallace. Try to keep Smith, Berger. Saxton looked great when she was on the court, not sure why she sat all season but she must be there for a reason so try to keep her. Not sure about Katie Lou -- something has obviously been amiss with her this year but her past play suggests she could be great for them if she can get her game back.

I don't approve of blindsiding. It kills trust and weakens morale all around. That said, I hope Christy will get some credit for making the Fever players gel. If players don't get on well with each other, the best coach in the world can't help them. And if Caitlin and NyLyssa like each other, NyLyssa had better do something about her girlfriend before Lady von C. pulls another dangerous stunt. I'd hold NyLyssa's feet to the fire on that score. In any event, the roster needs a protector for Caitlin. All the front office changes and new investment won't mean a thing if some on court nut job takes Caitlin out.

Fever had, for them, a successful year. Their not getting rid of Sides right now. I put a lot of the blame on players like Smith and KLS that didn't perform as they should have. Heck the Dallas coach should get fired, all the talent on that team.

Need a coach that understands defense. These women were awful en masse. It happened game after game so it seems that Sides didn't know how to teach them to fix the issues. Bigger issues were dealing w/ screens, seeing the ball and basket, and communicating through switches.

The team likes her as a person, I don’t know how many of them actually like her as a coach- especially the player who matters most. Literally look at Caitlin in the photo you posted here! Caitlin would never publicly speak poorly of any of her coaches- but if you pay close attention, there have been many things over the course of the season that CC has done and said that show she doesn’t like this “coach” coaching her.

@@Idklemmesee​​⁠ I watched nearly every fever game this season and Smith is lazy, she doesn’t hustle, she doesn’t play defense, she doesn’t have a winning attitude, and she has a shoot first and then pass type of attitude as well. She attempts to dribble the full length of the court on a fast break without passing the ball and then ends up turning it over. Many fans have mentioned that they think she’s compromised because of her CC hating girlfriend Carrington. I also believe that to be true. She was benched by coach sides, for at least two games because of some off the court issues . Ben Daniel’s on his podcast calls her a sack of potatoes and she has to go! She has some talent, but because of her attitude, she’s not giving her 110% and it shows! Need I say more?!?! 😂

He was one of the very first coaches to run a fast break offense And was of the winningest coach ever in our home state. As an athlete myself on both the high school and college level, ive witnessed athletes that lack elite athleticism and talent, but makeup for it with an exceptional winning “attitude”, hard work, desire, heart, and a killer instinct. You may be a WNBA fan, but by your comments, I can tell you were never a competitive athlete which means you don’t understand the mindset/attitude of an athlete. Smith is just lazy, lacks intensity, desire, and a win at all costs attitude. Smith is athletic enough to run a fast break offense, but she is just too lazy and doesn’t want to work that hard.
