I also think she was amazing during this performance and totally slayed it. I get so confused with people who say that she didn't sound like Whitney, well hello it was a TRIBUTE not a immitation show lol. Also people from her team and Whitney's family said that Christina got a phone call like 5 min before her performance with some really really bad news and that she was crying etc... Whitney's team said that everyone would be SHOCKED if they knew what had happened to her prior the performance and that she and the rest of Whitney's family were amazed by how well she sang despite what just had happened and they were very proud of her. But since Christina doesn't like to come with excuses and play a "victim" she didn't say or explain anything and nobody really knows what happened except those who were there.... Plus it feels like media always are trying to find ways to drag Xtina and I hate it. I think she is the best.

+ Yay! Love seeing new Xtina reactions from you. I remember this performance from 2017 and I particularly remember the controversy that came there after. From haters claiming she was horrible, to fans saying she was off, to black twitter being angry a white woman was chosen to pay tribute to Whitney because a black artist should have been chosen instead, to even Jessie J tweeting that "The thing about Whitney was that she was effortless". The whole thing was a mess.

She did a great job. I think people were upset that it didn’t sound like Whitney, which it shouldn’t because it’s a tribute. Regardless of who did the tribute, no one is going to like it, because everyone wants it to sound like Whitney.

I think the peoples problem with this tribute is they were expecting Xtina follow every note exatcly like whitney...and she was there to pay tribute and not to be cosplay of whitney or something...but i understand some of them wanted gospel singers and not Xtina...but American music awards is Pop famous award show and they gave to a famous pop Singer and i think she did a great job 🙏

Not her best and clearly things went wrong that night. Around this time Christina was not doing much vocally so her voice was rusty af. Christina Aguilera redoing this today will be total slayage because her voice is in fantastic condition from touring. This was one of her biggest performances of her career and honestly as a huge fan i was expecting her to display a more technically clean approach vocally.
