The practice of women being objectified and only used/seen for sex for so many years was used specifically for the benefit of men. Women didn’t have a choice. However, women are now taking back their CHOICE and their VOICE to express their sexuality however they choose to. It’s empowering for women to feel sexy on their own. She doesn't make an album to send just one message out there. And when it comes to the video of Accelerate, she doesn't direct her own music videos. I think there's a difference between being sexualized by men, as many young women in the music industry are, and having the agency to show yourself however you want. Ever since Stripped, Xtina has been in full control of her sexuality. She PUSHED for Dirrty to be released as the lead single (her record label wanted Infatuation), and she pushed for Not Myself Tonight to be released as well. She's in control of her sexuality. It's all about agency, and whether you're forced to do something vs. doing it because you want to.
