To people complaining about the lyrics being sexual: she's basically implying that even though she finds the guy attractive she won't sleep with him right away and she won't settle for less than a relationship, he has to impress her for any of that. That is why she is saying "hormones racing at the speed of light, but that doesn't mean it's going to be the night" and "you're blowing kisses my way, but that doesn't mean I am gonna give it right away". I don't see how it is a bad message. If you only listen to the main part then yes, you can turn it into something purely sexual... but the song is not about that.

As a teen in the 90s, I adored her music, her voice, her attitude and stage presence. Now in 2022, as a grown up, I still look at these videos with the same awe . This was definitely a well written song, and she has such a unique voice that no other singers can replicate! I was 15 and a half. I am currently 38. Ever since I listened to her I knew there was something really different coming from that little girl, especially when she hit the high note at 3:07-3:09. What a Voice for such a tiny body and cute person. Those were the years when you were still able to sing about your "first time" poetically without being obscene/nasty both in Spanish and English. The meaning of the song is not dirty. It is actually very female conscious oriented. What the song is saying is that even though she is attracted physically to the guy, she won’t give herself to him just for that reason. She wants him to be capable of not only be attractive but to love her before having intimacy. Very appropriate for Disney young audience. Anyone agrees? 😄🙏🏼
