I love how this came out! For months now I have been talking about doing this in my home. Our house was built in 1840. It originally had three fireplaces, however, around 30 years ago there was a chimney fire that damaged a third of the house. The owner at the time decided to remove all of the fireplaces. We bought the house five years ago. We wanted a fireplace, but building a new one wasn’t an option, so we decided to purchase an electric one that is the size of a real fireplace. Because we have molding along the floors, the fireplace doesn’t fit flush to the wall. My question is...how would I go about putting up a shiplap wall? Do I just go up from the top of the mantle or start at the floor molding and go up? I wish I were able to attach a picture of my fireplace to give you a better visual. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

It looks great! I want to do this with my fireplace, but ours is two story. The only change I would make is have the width of the top match the bottom and not the mantle. Looks a little top heavy. That’s what I’ve seen for examples on Pinterest too.
