Not crazy at all, I think he's a pretty obvious influence in writing, stylistic vocal choices and choreography. I like artists like Chris, where not only is it clear who came before them(it flows almost naturally through their work), but they also have their own identity.

I was working out in the PureGym one day, and Sex on Fire was playing in the background. I looked up at the TV after doing a set and this video was playing (without the sound). I stopped working out and was transfixed by this scantily clad, odd looking woman doing (what I thought was) an interpretive dance to Sex on Fire and it bloody "worked"! I thought it was their official music video! So I looked up "Sex on Fire official video" and it was rubbish in comparison! LOL! I spent weeks looking for this video until it played again in my gym with the _actual_ song this time. Shazamed it, and it brought me here! It's still the best music video to Sex on Fire I've ever seen! Lmao!

Chris will play Coachella Saturday April 13th; will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday the 16th, then the Santa Barbara Bowl with Blood Orange - what a pairing! - Thursday, April 18th, then 2nd weekend of Coachella. At least the first will be broadcast live. Amazing video, Chris! When someone leads a mundane life like me, mopping the floor, it is so cool to be transported to this setting like a fairy tale, and feel in another world . . . dancing is wonderful. Hope gracing the cover of Rollingstone doesn't change Chris, because Chris has raised the bar what it means to be an artist and a star!

J'avais adoré Chaleur Humaine pour son côté paradoxal : une volonté évidente de rencontrer le public et d'échanger mais une esthétique plutôt froide avec des néons et des costumes stricts, des chansons intimes mais pourtant difficilement accessibles au plus grand nombre. J'adore Chris pour la même raison : défiant, "brutally honest", il est presque grossièrement menaçant comme pour pallier au côté vulnérable, à vif ! Ici tout est explicite, exposé de façon crue et advienne que pourra, "haters gonna hate" ! Les textes utilisent un langage plus direct, de l'argot même, à aucun moment Chris ne sourit pour nous rassurer dans ses clips : nous sommes dans son univers, à nous de l'accepter ou de tourner les talons. D'ailleurs, les clips fonctionnent comme des hommages à ses influences artistiques (peinture : Goya, théâtre : Shakespeare, cinéma : American Gigolo, Les Amoureux du Pont-Neuf, photo : Charles Clyde Ebbets, danse : Pina Bausch) mais aussi comme un éventail de tableaux qui présentent à défaut de définir Chris : Damn dis moi = défiante, Doesn't matter = désespérée, 5 dollars = fière, La marcheuse = déterminée, Comme si = romantique. Cette deuxième oeuvre (j'entends l'album, les clips, et les mises en scènes) a été conçue avec beaucoup plus d'ambition, une fois l'attention du public obtenue par le premier essai un peu timide de Chaleur Humaine, le grand déballage commence avec Chris et ça se ressent. Tout ça pour dire, je suis chaque jour plus inspirée et impressionnée par Chris et je suis écoeurée de constater qu'une partie de son premier public ne cherche pas plus loin que sa nouvelle coupe de cheveux. C'est rageant, compte tenu du travail qu'il y a derrière et même insultant d'en être réduite à s'expliquer à ce sujet. Je m'arrête là même si l'envie d'extrapoler sur chaque mot de chaque texte et chaque image de chaque vidéo me brûle ! Force à toi Chris, merci d'être là pour nous donner du courage et nous faire rêver.

Je fais partie des gens qui a vraiment adoré son premier album et a été assez déçu du second. Idem pour son concert à Bercy que j’ai trouvé moyen; j’y trouve même une certaine forme de prétention à présenter un spectacle aussi épuré dans une salle comme l’hôtel Arena même si les premiers rangs ont certainement du adorer. Je me contrefiche de la polémique de plagiat, de sa coupe de cheveux, de son côté queer affiché, etc.. je trouve juste que le second album est artistiquement nettement moins bon et moins inspiré. Pour moi, c’est davantage grand public, plus « facile ». Je n’ai pas (encore ?) tourné les talons mais juste fait quelques pas de côté tout en essayant de rester objectif par rapport à ma sensibilité musicale et mes goûts personnels.

I accidently went to her concert in La Rochelle Francofolies and now I'm a big fan... she is so performatic and her voice is just perfect. I like better when she sings in french, even though not getting it all... Anyways, she is a complete artist.

I am so captivated by her: the way she moves, looks, how she exudes confidence....ugh! She is probably one of the most beautiful people I have ever laid eyes on! No makeup, no glamour etc...just her! I find her way more sexy than people like Beyoncé or Rihanna and so on and so forth.
