This file seems to only play out of one speaker. This can be fixed by turning on "mono audio". In windows, just type "mono audio" into the search field of the taskbar (bottom left corner of the screen), press enter, and it should take you to a settings page with a mono audio switch. Just click it to turn on.

14:14 "For Plato, the imperfection of human laws ... lies in their generality and inflexibility." However, the Greek notion of divine law was their universality (aka "generality") and permanance (aka "inflexibility). We have a contraction on our hands--a flaw in the logic.

If divine law is adjustable, then you can change divine law to mean anything you want, such as the dietary laws and purity laws; adjusted on the basis of human wisdom, experience and changing historical circumstances?

"What's So Divine About Divine Law? It is the means by which a person who loves God to unide with Him and become Holy in order to etrnally live in His presence [John 14:21] “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him”. What is Holy/ To be Holy is a condition that comes about after the purification of the heart and it is an acknowledgement of UNION of man with God begoten during the Holy Sacrament of Baptism [Matthew 5-8] “BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART- FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD”. Being Holy is not a moral or an ethical term it is a ~ontological transformation~ divinely begotten when becoming ~part man part~ god beginning with Baptism testifying to the awesome presence of God in the body. (1 Corinthians 3 :16) Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God”? This union with God (part man part god) ) is also described as becoming a new creation or becoming a new Adam. This is how Paul describes His personal experience, as being a new creation. (Gal 2:20) “So that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me” Paul admits that God (Christ) lives in him, making him this way - part man and part god- a god-man by His Grace, a way of being never seen on heaven or earth before. (Galatians 6:15) “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature”. So the heavenly Kingdom is NOT a “place” it is “a way of being”, begotten and experienced from this here life. (Luke 17:21) No one will say, “Look here it is”! Or, “There it is!” because the Kingdom of God is within you”. This is how the Apostles and the Saints did/do their miracles…it is not man that does them it is the God (Holy Spirit) within! Most of the Apostles became Bihops after His resurection and after Pentecost! www.goarch.org/-/the-basic-sources-of-the-teachings-of-the-eastern-orthodox-chur-1 Lazarus the beloved friend of Lord Jesus became the first Bishop of Cyprus here for 30 years before dying a second time! Really fascinating comparison of two different worldviews. I wonder if we can gleam what the ancient Israelites thought of their divine law and I think it would be interesting to try to line up Paul's idea of the Mosaic law on these conceptions because at times he seems to be advocating divine natural law and of course we can argue about how influenced he is by stoicism. Also really interesting how the red heifer law was seen as the height of irrationality and arbitrariness of the mosaic law by the rabbis (like in the last source cited in this video). The Quran specifically specifies this law as caused by the Israelites asking too many questions

I think the curse to the third and fourth generation (Exodus 34:7) is a curse on the nation for breaking the Law covenant. The punishment was exile (Deuteronomy 28:41). The command to execute punishment for social crimes only on the perpetrators themselves (Deuteronomy 24:16) is made in the context of individual sins. The curious part is that when the exiled Jews criticised God for visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children, Ezekiel for some odd reason did not tell them that’s exactly what their god had promised the people back in Exodus 34:7. He says that proverb will become obsolete because from now on sinners will die for their own sins. But that had always been the situation under the law in Deuteronomy 28:41. So was he saying the curse on the nation at Exodus 34:7 had become obsolete? It would seem so and yet the nation was exiled again in 70 A.D. and the sins of the fathers were visited on their offspring for centuries of generations.
@Room-gf7vy2 жыл бұрын
Exodus 34:7 is explained earlier in exodus 20:5 “You shall neither prostrate yourself before them nor worship them, for I, the Lord, your God, am a zealous God, Who visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and the fourth generation of those who hate Me” The last 4 words “those who hate me” is seen in Judaism as agreeing with Ezekiel 18. The iniquity is meet out only to those who hate Hashem. By making the choice to return to Hashem and the covenant the progeny of a iniquitous person is judged by their own actions.

Did I miss something? What is different about divine law and human will in her conclusions. It sounded like she said divine law is better as an expression of human will. I could understand, as did Cicero, if divine law is tantamount to human reason. Certainly human reason is not human will. Anybody foolish enough to accept vile religious codes as divine deserves the right to prove it.

What is it to become Holy? Holiness is not an ethical or a moral situation but an ontologicl tranformation seen on the Remains of Saints after 5 years and after exuming the body! Holiness (theosis) is an ontological transformation visible on the Holy Remains of the Saints testifying to the fact that while alive they became temples of the Holy Spirit . [1 Corinthians 3 :16 “ Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God”? It is a 2000 years old worldwide Orthodox Monastic Tradition to exhume the bodies of the monks 5 years after they die. The Church is looking to see if the Remains of our monks show signs of holiness, and this is the reason they do this. They are actually looking to see if the Remains have acquired a honey gold color. They are also looking to ascertain if a beautiful distinctive aroma (that reminds an exotic flower) emanates from the Remains. In some cases (that are not rare) like in the case of Saint Demetrios the “fragrant” who lived the 3rd century, His Holy Remains gush out a semi liquid aromatic unction that looks like honey. Every year the 3rd of November, the delegation of His Temple in Thessalonica Greece, opens His reliquary (that is permanently located in the Church), in order to gather from the Holy Remain His unction on cotton balls, so that the faithful ones can keep them as a special blessing. Upon visiting Saint Nicolaos (NOT santa clause) resting place [obitel-minsk.by/_oid100025155.html],who was a 3rd century Bishop of the first Church created by the Apostles, nun Juliania Denissova writes. “The most important thing for me was that the Lord allowed me to see the wonderful signs of God's presence on Earth with my own eyes and to learn something from it”. The relics of St Nicholas were a genuine window to the Eternity for me. She goes on and she writes: Myrrh, which is a supernatural, wonderworking and fragrant liquid, flows out from the relics of St. Nicholas even up to the present day. Such trips are sometimes necessary not only for consolation but also to let a person have the chance to think over what is going on inside his heart as he stands face to face with the saint”. The Holy Fathers of the Orthodox Church explain that these signs of holiness are begotten as a result of an actual physical transformation that takes place on a person’s body during their natural life. Continuing, they explain that this transformation is accomplished ONLY as a result of the presence of the Holy Spirit (God) in the body of a monk while alive. This Tradition is a Church Tradition that is over 2000 years old and the fact that the Church is in custody today of Holy Remains of even the Apostles proves the “age” of this Church Tradition! In the history told on the following web side we can see how Apostle Luke is involved in the delivery of the arm (Holy Remains) of John the Baptist. www.johnsanidopoulos.com/2010/01/incorrupt-right-hand-of-st-john-baptist.html Talking of Apostle Luke, I must mention the fact that it is known by the Church that he was a doctor. Along with being a doctor he was also known to be the Churches first iconographer. The story in the following the web page also tells us where his Holy Remains are found today. orthodoxwiki.org/Apostle_Luke He who remakes man into a new creation (Holy) by the Grace of God is Lord Jesus (God Logos) alone, because He is the only one that has the knowledge and the authority to present to his Church His Saints for it is not possible for any man to know the inner most feelings and intentions of the hearts of man! Ms. Hayes does not seem to distinguish between eternal law, which Aquinas believed to be the mind of God as understood by God conceptually, and divine law which an act of the will of God, thus it is manifested.
