The measurements for the small bookmark are 4". The one I made in the video was not but I labeled it 4" to show you. My apologies if I made it confusing.
@RachelShennan2 жыл бұрын
These are much easier than I expected! What type of interfacing did you use? And I’m a complete noob and is there a special type of stitch you use for top stitching or do you use any of the stitches?
@ChristinesCrafts2 жыл бұрын
You can use any weight interfacing you like, it will just end up stiffer or softer. I used a medium weight iron-on interfacing. You can use any stitches for top stitching. I just used an ordinary straight stitch making sure the stitch size was not too small. They would look great with a fancy embroidery stitch though!

Sorry for the confusion. The small ones are made from a piece of fabric 4" by 4". I thought people might notice that mine was much bigger in the video.
@karenpalmer99883 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinesCrafts You made the 4 x 4 in this video, and said it was made larger for us to see? What would the size dimension be for a paperback book? Thank you!
@ChristinesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
@@karenpalmer9988 Use a 4 x 4 square ad you will get a small bookmark.
@JasperJanssen Жыл бұрын
@@karenpalmer9988 finished dimension is going to be the starting dimension minus twice the seam allowance, so for 4” start and 3/8 seam it’d be just over 3 inches and that’s exactly the size shown with the smaller ones.

Leave the turning gap on one of the sides that doesn’t have the triangle piece. Makes less bulk to turn through.

Can you tell me what the actual size is for the smaller ones you made at the end of the tutorial? They look like they would fit a paperback book which is what I need. The 4 x 4 is way to large for a smaller book...Thank you!
@ChristinesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
If you use 4 x 4 that will make a bookmark that is suitable for a paperback book. I simply made it larger to show up better in the tutorial. I thought people might look and say that is bigger than 4"!

@@ChristinesCrafts Thank you so much for your response...I will try it...

How do you add a bit of lace to this pattern?
@ChristinesCrafts Жыл бұрын
You could always glue some lace on. If you want come lace to stick out beyond the front triangle you could cut that square in half along the diagonal and then sew the two pieces back together (right sides facing) trapping the lace between them. Then when you turned it out you would have the lace sticking out beyond the triangle. This would make the triangle slightly smaller so you may need to cut out a slightly larger square to start with. To be honest, I have not tried it myself. Good luck if you give it a try and please let us all know how it goes. 😀
@oliviakrytus10252 жыл бұрын
Can this be done without interface?
@ChristinesCrafts2 жыл бұрын
I am sure they can but I haven't tried. They just won't be as stiff. If they turn out too floppy you could try simply adding an extra layer of fabric in.

@@ChristinesCrafts Sorry that I wasn't more clear. It can be hard when using a text format. So you cut the larger one at 4" but what size were the ones at the end of the video? Were they same size? To me they looked smaller. Maybe my eyes deceived me. Anyway, thanks for answering me.

@@foechicken8023 That makes perfect sense. I think I caused the confusion in the video! The one I sewed was larger just so it was easier for you to see. The ones at the end, which I think are the perfect size, were made using 4" squares. I hope that clears it up. 😀
