I live in Canada. A&W here is known for being a more health conscious fast food restaurant. The adds in the restaurant say 100% grass fed beef. We do still have chicken items on the menu. We also have something called a whistle dog. It's a cheese stuffed hot dog with toppings. We also have really great poutine and gravy there. It really is one of the better fast food joints we have! You can also own the land that the restaurant is on. My dads sister owns several different lots that have A&W's around Alberta.

As a Canadian, I can confirm A&W is very popular up here. Chubby Chicken is on the menu and their breakfast options are sooooo good. Nothing like a frosted root beer on a hot summer day.

@@kaylee_nd Depends on which part of the country you're in, but honestly, it can be brutal. Right now where I am in the southern part of the country we're in the middle of a heatwave. Our temperatures have gone up to 37-40 C, which I believe translates to 98-104 F? A few years ago I remember it getting up to around 50 C in some parts of the country. We get extreme temperatures both in terms of heat and cold 😭

@@_GhostTea WOW! Okay so there’s not TOO much of a difference. The hottest day I think I can ever remember was about 108F (42.2C according to Google) but I’m sure it’s been higher before. I think what makes Texas heat so miserable is that it’s humid as well.

Canadian A&W stan over here ! Honestly, A&W is probably one of my favourite classic fast food restaurants. First of all, Alberta beef is top tier and A&W Canada sets the standard by serving grass fed Alberta beef. The fries are different, rather than being battered they are more of a rustic home style fry but still enjoyable. All the classic burgers, momma, poppa, uncle, teen, chubby chicken, etc. Our hot dog is called a Whistle Dog, never personally had one but they are crazy popular lol. And we don’t have the strawberry watermelon freeze, but we do have frozen root beer (think like a slurpee) creamy frozen root beer (slurpee with cream or soft serve I think). Oh and we can’t forget breakfast, absolutely underrated, best fast food restaurant breakfast around, so good ! Alright, now I was A&W lol

My mom use to take me to A&W everytime we went on vacation to San Diego. I always got the mini corn dogs and chilli cheese fries. Just found out they have one where I live now and I’m so excited to go get some root beer. Hilarious as always! ❤

Best childhood memories in the 70s when we all loaded up in the car, you park and put your window down halfway and they hook the tray on there with your food. Those frosty glass mugs. No plastic or styrofoam. It was the life!

The first A&W is in my town! It's still open! Extra fact we are 30 mins south of Elk Grove, Ca. And applause for pronouncing Lodi correctly, a lot of out of towners pronounce it "Low-dee" 😂 and its actually the name of a grape variety most known to make Zinfandels which makes us the Zinfandel capital of the World. We grow a lot of grapes here, we have over 80 wineries 🍷 I don't eat hamburgers so I don't go to A&W a lot but I do like the cheese curds!

The constant "jump scare" pictures of Dale had me cracking up!! This video was such a joy to watch 😊 Unfortunately our retro A&W closed down a few years ago. The servers wore roller skates and there was always a big karaoke thing on the weekends with Elvis. There was also an awesome old school A&W truck parked outside. I think they were in business for at least 60 years but couldn't find new owners to take over. Most of the other A&Ws around here are paired with KFC.

When I was a kid, A&W was a drive-in and you’d have car hops on skates bringing your food and your root-beer in frosted mugs to hang the trays on your window! Also, if you went inside to eat, they had a phone at the booth you’d call your order in! Those were the good ol days! 😂

The freeze is just blended vanilla ice cream and soda, so it’s a lighter, easier to suck through a straw consistency than a milkshake. The rootbeer freeze is boooomb. KFC/a&w was my first job 15 years ago lol

Our first town's A&W was at the edge of town. You drive in to the speakers and the server's rolled out on skates sometimes. I remember the frosty glass mugs that came in different sizes. The server your orders on a tray and hung them on your open windows.

We love A&W here in south east MI. I get the bacon double cheeseburger with extra pickles. Their pickles are the best. Cheese curds and marinara & the root beer freeze. It’s a root beer blended with vanilla soft serve. My favorite fast food meal hands down.

I think their menus are a mix of standardized chain items with some local content. Now back in the late 90s, I discovered A&W onion rings were great. I would go there occasionally and ONLY buy like 3 orders of onion rings, I liked them that much.

I’m in California, everyone in town had their first date at an A&W. The restaurants were so cool with a huge fireplace in the center of the room. I will go MILES out of my way to get an A&W Root Beer Float. Oh man. I want one right now! So, A&W is owned by the people who own KFC now and most of the A&W’s are now half A&W and half KFC and have both menus. Poutine is not a thing here but my go to order is KFC potato wedges, A&W cheese curds and a container of KFC gravy. You have to put it together yourself but it’s so worth it. OH! And a large Root Beer Float 😍

We love our A and W. I loved the chubby chicken but they just got rid of it. My husband loves the bacon double cheeseburger. Their chili dogs were fantastic but they have changed those and they taste different. For dessert Their hot apple crumble with vanilla ice cream.

This was the best. I grew up going to an A&W. We would drive to Plymouth (WI) on a Friday night and go. However - They used the name A&W, and had the Papa and Teen Burgers, but because they didn't cook it or keep other things on their menu, A&W no longer wanted them to use their name. So now it goes by Chesters. They always had such good Teen Burgers and still to this day do, the sauce I believe has a little relish in it. The way they cooked the food was a little different and so juicy. The other thing they had on their menu - was a grilled ham and cheese on a bun. Legit ham and gooey cheese on a warm bun. Not sure if that was on the A&W menu, but a big hit there. It's a treat when they open sometimes in March (it's a drive-up and no inside seating!). They go until the Fall when it gets cold. We know when spring is near when Chesters opens! Love your videos always.

Oh I to this day have a stolen a&w mug that I brought all the way to Australia. So nostalgic going to a&w drive in where they serve you with a tray to your car window and all the food was in plastic baskets. Oh man take me back to those days.
