I bet I could turn that tv on. Just walk right up to it , grab a knob and turn it on. And watch it. I miss those days.

Things weren"t simpler back then, they just had grownups that took care of all that stuff for you.

I was born in 1953 and the grownups had their share of struggles back then. Us children were taught how to help out, how to respect others and how to become decent citizens. It wasn't as easy as you think!!!!

I like old home movies. They are a cool look into a past sometimes remembered. My parents have lots of photos from this time with my grandparents too. I loved looking through them as a child always asking my parents who people were if I didn't recognize them.

One thing I remember about shooting 8mm movies was the hot, bright light you had to use. It was always fun to get the projector and set the screen up to watch our home movies though. I wonder what they would think of our technology now?

Oh, Vietnam was in the TV news and newspapers of that era. The average person didn't care, unless they had relatives serving as " military advisors".

@@shawnmalone9711 US involvement went all the way back to Ike...8 or so years before this film.
@shawnmalone97115 күн бұрын
@@the_gilded_age_phoenix8717 It began in 1950 , under President Harry S Truman. Secretary of State, Dean Acheson convinced Truman to send money and weapons to France. France wanted to hold onto its former colony and Acheson wanted to keep France in NATO, as well as because the US was fighting in South Korea , and France would be able to stem the Communist aggression in VietNam. Ike upped the ante after the French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu in 1954. US military advisers were sent to South Vietnam to help support Diem's governtment, 1954-1963.
