Well I'll start by adding I've been a fan of Tom Waits for 30+ years ( this song is a favourite as well ) in this time I've always wanted to hear an even passable rendition by a female vocalist .... often the desire to show the talent supercedes the faithfulness to its theme and delivery . From missing the point of a lyrical conversation to full on look at me singing lol Yes , I'm very critical of those that cover the Tom Waits of my heart and soul ... ok , yes ... yours is the only one I'll say has the charm , delivery , believability and honesty to do this song justice ... your voice is solid and correct start to FINISH BRAVO! * special applause to the way you rolled out " gave me a ring that was worn by his mother " chills ... you nailed it , thank you so much !

Well Sharon and Tim, for a hardboiled Tom Waits fan, who has endured 40 years of artists managing to take a book of matches to their Tom Waits cover, this one actually hits the mark. The best cover of this song was Neko Case. This has just hit a bull's eye. Loved that, it is wonderful. This is one of the best Tom Waits covers full stop. Kudos and kudos to Tim's playing - perfect.
