Sitting with my mum. She is now in her 90s and bed ridden in a care home. She did a lot of work with the Salvation Army. We used to say she was on plain clothes, as she wasn't a uniformed member. This is bringing back some good memories for her.

✝🕊🙏🏻 God Bless us Everyone!🙏🏻🕊✝ When my dad got back in the USA from Korea, he was broke, he'd sent every dime home to his mother and 6 siblings. So he was hungry, no one near to help him, and then came the Salvation Army to meet the train, homemade donuts, and hot coffee was passed out by these wonderful people! He never forgot that simple kindness, and now that he's gone, I donate to Salvation Army in his memory. Thank You for spreading the cheer and kindness of our Blessed Savior!

I remember bundling up grabbing our instruments and music then walking all over the neighborhood then standing under the light standards to play carols. This was my special time of year. People would stand in their front room window to listen. Of course that was a long time ago and now it is filed in my blessings collection somewhere at the top.

Thank you very much, it was so lovely to hear them playing at Christmas, they do such good work with the homeless, they take in people other hostels won't, and they also pay for their own uniforms. When I was a young woman they would even come into pubs to make a collection, which took some fortitude ! Have a Happy Christmas and New Year everyone. Godbless 💖🌲🌲🌲💖

Some have expressed doubts that this is a Salvation Army band. I attended Asbury College when SA James Curnow joined the music department. This guy could write arrangements with deep mellow jazz tones and chords like any professional jazz composer of the 1950's and 60's. I never thought a "band" could sound so beautifully rich. And there are real artists in the Salvation Army bands around the US and UK. Don't doubt it! I have a cd album at home of the Christmas Brass of 2004. These guys can rock!

Now I'm retired and close to putting down my cornet for the last time. I listen to this and remember. Over the years I switched to French horn.
