A few years back I started to think I wasn’t doing enough to keep up with my housework. I began keeping a weekly ‘general tidy to do list’ with boxes to check off when completed. Things like vacuum, dust, trash… etc. the list is 15 items that are things I do instinctively but hadn’t given credit to. Giving credit to them gives value to me 😊

When it comes to decorating for Christmas I always brought up all the bins. Not any more. I put up tree. Then I go back to the basement for the tree decorations. All the Christmas bins I put by the stairs. Once that is done I take up another bin etc. etc. one bin up one bin down to the basement. All bins I put by the stairs. My mind and house stays neat. It may be a little more work but it makes me feel better. I’m 75 and I love to decorate for the holidays. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas season and a Happy New Year.

Here'e a tip for you, get a large basket, nothing expense just a simple large basket and every night walk thru your house and put everything into your basket and then place it in your kitchen before you retire for the night. In the morning after coffee of course, take that basket and put everything away. I taught this to my sister when she had her busy life with 3 teenage boys at home, they're all adults now, but it really helped her to keep the mess under control. I watched your vlog after working and like you I do not have a household help, I do overthink and get stressed when I am unable to finish task I planned. To stop myself from making me stressed out I will just do what I can do. Cleaning is not the end of all the chores as it happens daily. I would just do my upkeep as usual. They won't mind I don't feel. It's perfectly fine. It's weird not to do my normal routine if someone's over. My friends learn stuff from my routine when they watch me. You can still talk or watch TV/radio /podcast. Just be yourself. Do your thing, girl. 😊💜 oh, LOVE the decluttering your doing.

When we have visitors I tend to do a quick wipe over of the bathroom and loo on a daily basis. I leave the dusting until they have gone and will usually vacuum the kitchen area as well. Spending time with visitors is my calm.

I know sometimes I feel overwhelmed too with trying to get things done around my house. I have been retired fora year and since then I have been trying to get things done that I couldn’t get done when I was working full time. I just ordered some of the Bloom Christmas towels. It’s kind of nice to see them on your channel vs. the website because, for whatever reason, you get a better view of what they actually look like & now I feel better about the ones I picked 🤓. I think we all go through those stages of self doubt, I know I do on a regular basis. I hope you know how many people you are helping just by being open and talking about your issues - helps everyone feel less alone in their struggles. When I manage to get an area reset, or really clean and organized, in my house I feel so encouraged and uplifted that I did it for me & I think there is such a sense peace of pride.

Hi Amanda, when we have family I do only the necessities. I try do be sure everything is done extra before they arrive so just a quick tidy is enough. I do not own a cordless vacuum. I have been trying extra hard to make the most of every moment. Back in May my husband had a stroke, he is partially paralyzed and has in home therapy. I am overwhelmed most of the time & exhausted. My life is hard and I feel so stressed and alone. I try to enjoy his every improvement and try to be his biggest cheerleader. Seeing how hard he works bring me joy and makes me so proud of him. It’s a wonderful life is my favorite and we watch it every Christmas. I love the art work in your dinning room. It is so simple and perfect. ❤ Until next time ❤️You look beautiful without makeup.🥰

I brought my Christmas tree and ornament boxes, nine total, out of storage over the Thanksgiving weekend. Your decluttering your decor got me started on my own Christmas stuff. I had relatives visiting in August when we also had renovations going on. They stayed at hotel for two nights and were gonna leave, but their vehicle messed up and they had to stay with us for the next three nights. We didn’t understand why they didn’t stay at hotel those nights. We were redoing our living room floor and our house was a mess, dust everywhere. We had to keep them company while work was going on. I was so stressed out. I bet it’s HOME ALONE. ❤

I suffer from SAD and it might be similar to what you call overwhelmed. Some days I just cry and then I’m better for a little while. I do the little crock pot with Christmas scents as well. I do orange peel, cloves and cinnamon. It really is a good way to enjoy the holiday aroma. Our Thanksgiving was really nice! Simple and calm but very nice.

I think the best vacuum investment I’ve ever made is the Dyson cordless stick vacuum. I kid you not that thing has the suction of a corded vacuum. Best $700 ever spent. I’ve had it 2 years so I think my model is now down in the $500 range. SO worth it.

I don’t clean at all when company’s here. We also have a Rainbow vacuum/air filer vacuum use. Corded vacuums are better I think. My favorite Christmas movies are Trading houses, The Christmas card, timeless Christmas, Disney A Christmas Carol, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and The spirit of Christmas. These I try to find and watch every year.

When things start getting tedious of doing the same things of getting stuff done around the house day after day I just try to remember who I am cleaning the house for or ironing clothes for or doing laundry for. It helps me so much to do those things and I feel I am giving service to those around me and makes it easier to get that certain thing done. ❄️

Today's video was calming and so laid back. I truly enjoyed watching you doing what I call the I will get to it later video. I try not to do any cleaning when I have guest because I want our time together is so more important. Making those memories is what are I can precious moments. I am excited to see them come and I know I will miss them once they are gone so cleaning them helps me stay busy. Another awesome video with The Grinch (I think) in the background. So during family visits I do tidy up my bedroom, making beds and such. The guests can do what they wish with the other bedrooms. My living area is cluttered with toys as the grandkids play. Too tiring to always pick up after them. I keep up with dishes, but we do cheat at times with paper plates. You are not alone with messes and we are all human. Got to enjoy family and not worry so much about the house. Thanksgiving was somewhat quiet, but Christmas day ill be hosting 20 people. Hi Amanda I just wanted to say that you are not alone in overwhelm and anxiety. I have it so bad myself. I feel like I am finally at a point in my decluttering journey that everything in my house is supposed to be here. I’ve never been the kind of person to hang on to a lot but I still had stuff I thought I needed and listening to Dawn from the minimal mom and Dana K white I’ve learned so much. I also have a basement that I dread doing because it’s a big space but it’s a work in progress and I’ve been slowly getting it done. I do think we put so much on our plates especially this time of year. It’s something we have to just slow down and think about what we are doing. I think sometimes we get caught up in wanting everything everyone else has and that is something I’m working on. I love these slow cozy videos you make. ❤

You will, give yourself grace. It’s just my husband and I we don’t have kids. It’s different when you have to keep track of more people. We have a 2200 square foot house but it’s comfortable for us. I love this big space. I know it can get overwhelming because it is big but I think about all the reasons I wanted this house. You absolutely have a gorgeous home and family. ❤

One of my favourites is Prancer from 1989, sad, funny, and a Happy Ending! I first saw it in 1996 when we were living in Colorado, but back here in UK, its not shown, and National Lampoon Christmas vacation which always makes me laugh.
