Need some Christmas Cookie recipe ideas? Well, you've come to the right place! In this video, I'm sharing my recipes for Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies, Ginger Molasses Cookies, and Church Windows. This video is part of a collaboration put together by Lou Ann of ‪@HeartFilledHomemaking‬ and there are several great ladies sharing their favorite Christmas cookie recipes with you. For the full playlist, go here: • Christmas Cookie Excha...
I have lots of Christmas (and Thanksgiving recipes) in a playlist here: • Cranberry Jello Salad ...
In this video, I'm sharing three of our family's favorites:
============
OLD FASHIONED OATMEAL COOKIES 👵🏻
INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 cups oatmeal
INSTRUCTIONS
For best results, wrap cookie dough in rolls in sheets of wax paper and refrigerate for a few hours before baking.
Bake ~12 to 13 minutes (or longer, if necessary) in a 350º oven. If you have refrigerated them first, they should start to brown around that time. At that point you can decide how done you want them before you pull them out of the oven. Get a nice glass of milk, a plate of warm cookies, and enjoy!
============
CHURCH WINDOWS ⛪️
INGREDIENTS
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup) butter
1 package colorful miniature marshmallows
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a large pot, melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat; stir until smooth.
2. Take melted mixture off the heat, give it a stir.
3. Add in marshmallows and mix them in.
4. Put mixture into roll shapes on wax paper and refrigerate for a few hours.
5. Slice and enjoy!
============
GINGER MOLASSES COOKIES 🎄
INGREDIENTS
1 stick (1/2 cup) of softened butter
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup molasses
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
Decorative or large granule sugar for decorating (or you can use this cookie dough recipe to make gingerbread men!)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. Mix all ingredients.
3. Chill dough until it's firm enough to roll out.
4. Roll out dough to about 1/4" thickness and use your favorite cookie cutters to cut them into shapes. (I just used circle cookie cutters.)
5. Dust tops with decorator sugar or wait until they come out of the oven and then decorate with icing.
6. Enjoy!

It’s just something I always have to do when I make oatmeal cookies. 😋 And I will admit, I totally eat oatmeal cookie dough almost every time I make them… Just not when an egg shell has fallen in them. 😅

I'm just now making my way through all of the videos. These are perfect! I love the classic oatmeal cookie recipe and you're right, the one on the lid now isn't the same. I haven't made church windows before but I had no idea how easy they are. Now I want to try them! I also love a good gingerbread spice cookie. They really are pretty with that sugar on top! I love them all!!, Lol. Thank you so much for being a part of this collab. I'm really glad that I found you.

I don’t do that for all of my cookies, but for the oatmeal cookies, it’s just a must. 😁 I especially remember seeing rolls of oatmeal cookie dough in my grandmother’s refrigerator or freezer just before she did Christmas baking. ❤️🎄😋

I really love this gingerbread recipe! It will work well for gingerbread men because it's not too sweet, so if you add frosting or candies, it won't be overwhelming. Just make sure to refrigerate the dough longer than me. I was able to peel them up and put them in place on the pan since they were simple circles, but if they had been actual gingerbread men with legs and arms, I'd have probably broken several before I had even baked them! 😁🎄 Happy baking!

Hey there! I'm glad you told me your channel! Yours was one I subscribed to earlier this evening. I tried to subscribe to all of you ladies in this collab. Thank you for subscribing! I hope you enjoy the church windows. I always loved them growing up and I still do! They're super rich so I don't make them more than about once or maybe twice a year, but they're always a hit when I do! I'm just now getting ready to watch the other videos in the collab. It's been a busy evening. Also, do you know I've never made the thumbprint cookies?! I've always wanted to so I will have to try that this year, for sure!

I understand! Another viewer mentioned that she uses monk fruit to make cookies. I guess that’s an alternative sweetener, so I don’t know if that’s what you have to avoid is the sugar, but might be worth looking into.

@@blessedmomma6626 Oh gracious, well, I certainly understand. Definitely stay away from the stuff that's not allowed. I wasn't sure if it was just sugar, but sounds like you're having to cut a lot of stuff out. Thank you for watching and commenting anyway and have a Merry Christmas!
