Very nice board........ The serving tray looks AWESOME. Very nice choice of woods. I just started making boards......first batch of 10 is just needing the finish. I'm looking forward to the next 10. I've been thinking about getting my own channel, but I'm just not feeling that comfortable or confident about doing that. Thanks for the video.

I'm not very comfortable either, you can probably see it in my face. I have had family pushing me to do it so I just thought screw it, they would either like it and watch or just find something else. If I had the right equipment to make the videos, I'm sure it would be easier. But anyways Thanks for the compliments and thanks for watching.

Looking good. Thanks for the video. One thing I would say, those pins you set the board on, I had them too, but for me, they left a mark, a little pinch hole on the board every time I used them. Don't you have that? Cheers, 👍🎈
@deckerdoesitdiy Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I think I might have seen a couple of marks on the boar because of those pins. Your right though when It comes to projects like this I don't think I will be using them too much anymore. Thanks for watching.

Absolutely beautiful cutting board! At first, I wasn't sure about the chamfered edges, but I agree, they do give a modern look to it. I also love your straight edge jig instead of a jointer. I've got to make one of those myself! Could you share the dimensions for the one you have? Thanks for all the tips and tricks you showed in the video.
@deckerdoesitdiy Жыл бұрын
Thanks I appreciate the complement, I will get you those dimensions on that jig. Possibly on Friday if that's ok. I might just make a video on it. Thanks for watching.
@Jeff-jg7jh Жыл бұрын
I like the modern look too. I liked the first cut, and then the second cut nailed it. I built a cutting board in the eighth grade (jr. high) so I wasn't too excited about this vid and watched just to see how lame it was. Big surprise, very nice vid. Well produced. Way better than my cutting board, but I love it and still own it. I was going to give it to my brother, but his wife said that wood cutting boards are hazardous to your health (not even CA) so I kept it. I'm subscribing just because it's laid back. Oh, and a real good cutting board should have a handle (like mine). If a cutting board goes unused it breaks its heart. No one knows its story. Man, nice music.

Great video, the music was a good touch, when you did the closeup with the oil that was amazing, can you please let me know what fence you’re using? And if you like it? I have the same saw but with stock fence, and it’s a struggle. Merry Christmas
@deckerdoesitdiy Жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks for watching, the fence I have on the craftsman is the Vega Utility 26 from Rockler. And If you have a craftsman 113 that you just don't want to part with I highly recommend it. Sure it's a little pricey at I think 350 But Still cheaper than buying a decent table saw and well worth it for these old craftsman saws. Pretty easy to install and square up also, and that fine adjustment is extremely handy as well. I hope this helps and stay safe. www.rockler.com/table-saw-fence-systems

Do you have a video on your dust collection for the tablesaw?

@@deckerdoesitdiy I have the same saw and have a velcro attached dust bag now which is a pain to empty.
@deckerdoesitdiy Жыл бұрын
@@herbsu4330 My craftsman saw isnt very good at dust collection as you can see when I use the jig or cutting strips, mainly because of the zero clearance insert on the saw. the dust port on the bottom gets some but still some blows out the back. It is what it is. I cant afford a new saw at the moment but I will be happy when I do get one.
@herbsu4330 Жыл бұрын
I have had this saw since 96 and have toyed with the idea of a newer type, but it still does what I need it to do so I have stuck with it. I run a 20" box fan with a filter for the air born dust along with a masķ.
@jamieduv Жыл бұрын
Very beautiful work on both the cutting board and serving tray. On any of your previous cutting boards, have you ever done a juice groove around the perimeter? It would have been interesting to see how you did that on this cutting board.
@deckerdoesitdiy Жыл бұрын
Yes I have, the reason I didn't do one on this one is because the router bit I have been using is dull. The last groove I cut in a board caused so much burning, It took 8 hours to sand the burn out. So until I get a new bit I have been doing them with the chamfer. Thanks for checking out the video.

couldnt you of ripped the boards regularly through the table saw at the begining instead of using the jig? or was the other side not squared?
