Favorite Christmas tradition is to sign the "Posadas" songs (a mexican way to represent Joseph and Mary search for shelter before baby Jesus was born). We split in 2 groups, one singing from inside the house , the other from outside. The last part of the song represents baby Jesus´s birth and everyone gets into the house with a joyful song. After singing posada, we break a piñata.

My favorite Christmas tradition is the candlelight Christmas Eve service at my church. The church is decorated in greenery and red ribbons. The lights are dimmed which accents the candles at the front of the church. We sing Christmas hymns. The last song that we sing is Silent Night which we sing acapella. It’s just beautiful and keeps my focus and the true meaning of why we celebrate.

My favorite Christmas tradition is that my local church back home in maryland is such a big congregation that they rent out the “cow palace” at the state fairgrounds and they host Christmas eve masses in a barn! Just like the first Christmas. It is so festive and so cherished by me!

@@panampia Yes, unfortunately. It was what gave the house its unique, rare character. Now it looks like every generic Scandinavian inspired home. Very tasteful, of course, but the charming warmth and mystery that naturally comes with the age of such a house is now lost, sadly.

Your confusing workmanship (the actual creation of the woodwork) with color. Dark wood isn’t classier than white, but it is old looking. And heavy. And somber. That’s how people often were back then, very somber. But now, people are trying to be light & joyful & have fun with their life. And heavy dark wood work, does not feel that way. White painted wood is beautiful because it represents light, bright & happy. The shape, texture & interest that the white wood trim gives is still there, but the heaviness of the darkness is gone.

In Denmark, on Christmas Eve we sing Danish Christmas songs while holding hands in a circle and walking around the Christmas tree. That’s my favourite tradition, and it’s also found in Sweden I think

Really beautiful and grand. I'm glad you celebrate with joy and think about the real meaning of Christmas. I cannot imagine having all the Christmas decor for three months. In Spain most people start decorating the 6th 7th and 8th of December because these days are national holidays and people gave time to decorate with the children. As my children are older now I start decorating a few days before Christmas. Enjoy your beautiful house.

My family does a yearly Christmas crawl. Each year we pick a Saturday close to Christmas. One family hosts appetizers, the next hosts dinner, the last hosts dessert. We visit each home and get to see the holiday decorations at each home. We caravan through the various neighborhoods and look at the neighborhood decorations as well. In between we visit other family members homes. This way we get to see everyone's home beautifully decorated for the season. We always have so much fun! We pick up more friends and family along the way. The trip can go into severally suburbs and lasts way into the night depending on how many family members join up. I always make us a signature cocktail each year.

Beautiful! I started a tradition with my grandson when he was born with a Christmas ornament every year with his name and the year on it. He is seven and has helped pick the ornament for the past several years. It brings me joy.

We have so many Christmas traditions but one of my favorite family traditions is board games! We are very competitive and at Christmas time we stack all our board games on the buffet table and have at it all season long. We also keep a log of who played what on, what day and who won 🎄☃️

Eve of Dec. 5th - put out our shoes in front of bedroom doors for Sinter Klaus to put either coal or goodies inside, depending on how good/bad we were this year...still do it for my adult kids! And the cheapie Advent Chocolate Calendars...still do those too! And chocolate hanging ornaments on the tree - each Sunday, you can eat one... Okay - is this all Chocolate related??? There seems to be a theme!!!

We do a traditional Czechoslovakian mushroom soup on Christmas Eve. I've added my own touch to the recipe. The tradition is not to eat until we see the 1st star. This is one of the only traditions by grandmother passed down.

Regarding your question of traditions, well we have 7 Christmas trees and 6 of them are fully decorated, however, the last one is decorated by the guest as we celebrate Christmas eve, and everyone brings a Christmas ornament to decorate the last tree. In addition, everyone brings their favorite home made dish to contribute to the festive evening. I adore Scout sitting on the highchair. I just searched your video out and watched it again, because it is my absolute favourite Christmas decor look!! You keep calling it organic and natural, but I think it looks elegant and simply beautiful! it is not over the top or cluttered or cutesy. I does emphasize the birth of the Saviour in a simply elegant way. I give you the first and the only prize for really doing what you set out to do. I hope I can incorporate without copying the wonderful elements you used. I have my parent's original nativity scene they bought for their first Christmas as a married couple in 1934! I also have a nativity collection that I place around my home. That is one of my favourite traditions.

Mrs Ricky here. Every year we made mom and daughter ornaments Her first Christmas I made snowbabies from a pair of her socks. But every year after that we made matching ornament but our own way. Even after she joined the Marine Corp we continued. At 22 she was able to move off base. The day after Thanksgiving she open a box from mom with 21 ornaments handmade by Mom. She is 30 now and a wounded warrior and we still made an ornament every year for each other. I still hang every ornament she made me!

I don't decorate for Christmas until Thanksgiving day, but for the rest of November, I decorate my tabletop tree with a fall theme. I'm in the process of looking for small pinecones to use as ornaments. I also plan on laminating fallen leaves and using those as ornaments as well.

My daughter has been taking a vacation day for years on the Friday before Thanksgiving and she and I have a shopping day. We have breakfast together. We have lunch together and we try to do something different each year, eat expensive chocolate, have a picture made in front of the big tree in the mall.
