Actually, breaking up with Hina was quite smart and logical decision and i was surprised that he went along with it. Why is it a good decision? Because we know her fate in 2 versions of the future: where she dumps him and where he dumps her. In both she lives long enough to be murdered by Kisaki, but we know absolutely nothing about future where they stay together. The mere fact that she is girlfriend of captain of a gang is putting her in danger. Remember first encounter with Taigu? Now imagine what would have happened if Hakkai wasn't there. If that's not enough, then how about the reason behind conflict with Moebius? Pah-chin's friend and his girlfriend got assaulted just because they were friends with captain of Toman. And captain's girlfriend is a much better target than his friends
