Sew many good ideas that aren't really complicated, but cute and practical. I learned the '10 minute table runner' at a women's conference years ago and have made several. Now I MUST see how you make the longer version! Happy holidays to you and the family. EDIT: I watched the episode for the longer version of the '10 minute table runner' ... I like the addition of interfacing the center section. Good job! One thing I remember being encountered at the women's conference was that some of the fabric in the kits assembled for this project were so off grain the runner would not flatten out properly when turned right-side out. This was very frustrating for ladies who had never sewn before. As an old garment sewist, I wash & straighten my cotton fabrics when I get them home from the store so I know the grainlines have been trued up. Then, when I pull fabric for a project, I know I won't be frustrated with nasty off-grain wrinkles on folded edges.

Hi Jay. Look on the internet for local sewing groups that live in your area. They might donate fabric scraps. In many community recreation centers often sewing/quilt groups meet there. You can go and attend their group sewing session and ask for donations. They might even be willing to participate in making items for charity. Check garage sales, and go to thrift shops.
