Christmas Home Tour - Christopher Hiedeman's Christmas Decorating - Historic 1898 Home Tour - Vlog

The holidays are almost here, so grab a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea and follow me on a tour around our historic Victorian home as I share a close up look at my Christmas decorations & show where I put the fun shopping finds from my Christmas haul video! This is admittedly one of my longest Christmas Home Tour videos yet, but I wanted to not only show my holiday decorations, but also share why the décor is special to me. So this year, I decided to add the memories, stories, & nostalgia back to the tour! I also listened to previous home tour requests & made the nighttime segment (with all the Christmas lights!) at the end a little longer too, so I hope you enjoy!
Our home is furnished with a blend of new and vintage furniture & decorations as I enjoy decorating with exciting new finds and treasured antique décor from the past - especially family decorations. Each year I try to incorporate current Christmas design trends with classic traditional Christmas decorating for a warm, inviting balance of new and familiar. From rustic to elegant, ribbon to ribbon-less, each one of the Christmas trees are decorated in different themes to hopefully spark some Christmas joy to all who watch!
I've had so much fun this season decorating trees & mantels, working on fun Christmas diy projects & floral arrangements, and wanted to take the time to say a big THANK YOU to all of my wonderful subscribers & viewers! You all keep me excited to decorate each season with your likes & uplifting, wonderful comments! I'm grateful for each and every one of you and want to wish you a healthy happy Christmas filled with warm memories & fun traditions! Our home was built in 1898
Marshmallow is a canary (and is about 1.5 years old)
The paint color in the kitchen is Behr brand "Clay". Unfortunately I don't know the main interior paint color as it was this color when we moved in
The elegant garland on the main floor fireplace mantel is attached with twine to the posts of the mantel.

Beautiful decorations! The "tree skirt" is a nordic design with a Yle Goat and a Nissan (norwegian) or Tomte (swedish) motif. Whereas we think of tree skirts as linens to hide the tree stand, Scandinavians use them under the tree stand to protect the floor from tree sap and to assist in pulling the tree to the center of the room on Christmas Eve so all the guests can hold hands and dance around the tree singing a traditional song.: "Nu Ar Det Jul Igen" The song says it's Christmas time again and Christmas lasts until Easter; but that wasn't true because in between becomes lent.

Everything looks beautiful ☺ I really enjoy your longer videos because I really like the way you express yourself, one can practically feel the love for your grandma and that everything you decorated comes from the heart - ornaments, memories. I have been so excited for the Christmas home tour! Everything you do is so magical. I love the stories behind your treasures and the sentimentality. That's so cool that you and your brother shop together and get each other such thoughtful gifts.. I miss Ben Franklin stores. I love Homegoods-pillows ,throws, decor, wrapping paper-you name it! Your dishes in the dining room are beautiful and I have always love Spode. I did my main bathroom in Spode decor this year including a shower curtain. I purchased the flowering maple plant on Etsy & it has been pretty easy to grow. When the leaves start to wilt I water it & I just have it in a sunny window :) Sometimes you can find them in gift plant sections & year-round greenhouses.

Those ICICLES on the upstairs tree are metal and heavier... my mother used to painstakingly apply those to our Christmas trees to make sure the effect was even. At the end of Christamas she would then remove them and straighten them on a piece of cardboard to save for the next year. I remember thinking they were expensive and special because of the care she took with them. Happy Christmas to you and yours! Always enjoy your videos.

Chris, the last picture of showing the house lit up that is the most beautiful Christmas lights. I think I’ve ever seen just gorgeous. I love the tour, but there were few things that just really touched me. When was the picture of you you and your husband the other was the Avent calendar because I have the one that my mother made for my grandchildren that I put up every year, very similar to yours, I love the plates that you bought the ones that can go in the dishwasher.
