It's the holiday season of giving and decorating and creating those warm fuzzy feel good moments. In today's episode we are giving back by making over a 6-year-old cancer survivor's bedroom, and decorating our island home for the holidays. For the room we are DIY'ing a fun pink slide bunk bed surprise, complete with a DIY overhead, twinkle lights, paper lantern chandelier, and gorgeous colorful wallpaper and accessories all drawing inspiration from Barbie's Dreamhouse. We're also ringing in the holidays with that yearly tradition of decorating our christmas tree. Our goal is tropical, colorful and of course beautiful to go with our island home! Im so happy that both sisters get to enjoy the room, siblings often feel such trauma when their sister or brother is so sick and so much energy, understandably, is put into supporting the sick child. Lil sis will also get to share in the magic of this room! So special!

This room make over with her favorite theme is true compassion & empathy. Her face said it all. Moreover, the explosive emotional reaction of everyone else speaks by itself of the impact this design created for all. As usual incredible designs and renderings. Hats off to Mr. Kate and her team. often when I see kid room transformations I am left with the feeling of anxiety over how the family, which usually is in some struggle, will maintain the room and have it grow with the children. this is NOT the case at all. this is such a thoughtful design, that will be able to adjust and grow with these girls, yet still super fitting for the theme. it's functional, beautiful, and smart- what else can someone ever want? I would like to acknowledge Moon's experience. The snippets of him at the beach, doing whatever in a hat that protects his neck ... I was a military brat on O'ahu during my formative years of 6-10. Moon is way younger, so this is definitely a heavier psychological impact time. FIRST: Great job. Good on you both for diving in, working hard, and making Moon use a roller. Very important to instill a work and design ethic early. 😊 SECOND: I can see that you get, I think, that this is Moon's experience that is not to be compared to anything you have been through in your lives. I observe you both consciously responding to Moon's immediate perception. What does Moon see, feel, think? Man, in this regard you are a Master Class in parenting, getting out of your own way. Hi! I don’t know if this has been mentioned in a previous comment, but certified child life specialist’s (CCLS) are not nurses! I am so happy to see a CCLS included in one of my favorite KZbin channels videos. Child life specialists are specially trained to enhance the coping of children and families experiencing all of the challenges of hospitalization. Being a CCLS myself, it is so exciting to see them included in such a special moment!

This is AMAZING!!! When my Hubby went through his stage 4 cancer treatments, I started crocheting hats and scarves to give out to the patients. He is a Cancer Survivor for 7 years now. radiation treatment center was a part of the Childrens Hospital as well. Bless you guys!!! Merry Christmas!!!

This was a truly beautiful episode _(short but very sweet) and I cried happy tears when Mum started crying as she was saying thank you. What a wonderful thing to do for such a sweet pair of girls. I hope they have many happy hours playing together creating special memories (that could have been lost if cancer had it's evil way) in their gorgeous new room.

The chandelier in the barbie room, I've had that exact same light for the longest time. We found it in a thrift store for 5 dollars. And we have taken it to every room I've had since. It can light up the whole room way better than a normal light. I would know I don't have windows so lighting was a problem till we put it up. Highly recommend.
