My mom "canceled" Christmas for me and my sisters one year, because we kept being dishonest, disobeying her, and being very rude. In a snowy corner of Finland, Bob's Burgers has taken on a whole new vibe. The Belcher family, now born and raised in the land of saunas and fjords, serve up hearty Finnish cuisine with a side of quirky humor. Bob, or "Björk" as he’s known here, still tends to his grill with pride, cooking up Finnish versions of his famous burgers, like the "Karhu Burger" with reindeer meat and lingonberry ketchup. Linda, now "Linna," bursts into spontaneous Finnish folk songs, filling the air with cheerful melodies as she serves customers mugs of hot mulled wine. Tina, or "Tiina," still awkwardly pines for her crushes, but now with a Finnish twist-fascinated by the lore of mythical Finnish creatures like the Hirvi (moose). Gene, known as "Jaani," composes electronic folk music on his synth, hoping to create the next big Finnish hit, while Louise, or "Leena," wears her signature bunny ears with even more confidence, often plotting to steal the neighboring bakery’s prized rye bread recipe. Together, they serve up love, laughter, and the best Finnish comfort food in a town that thrives on both tradition and the Belcher family’s unique brand of chaos.

Maybe I haven’t scrolled far enough, but I don’t see a lot of people bringing this up: if your kids are constantly misbehaving that is at least a good percent your fault as a parent. I understand the concept of this as punishment however, a lot of this seems to not be punishment to teach a lesson but punishment out of spite. If you were upset with your kids because they keep misbehaving, maybe parent them to not do that. At least what I’ve seen a lot of parents haven’t been parenting and then just randomly snap at their kids for acting the way that they basically taught them was OK. I know this isn’t all parents, i’m aware that there are other situations, however, this is a good amount of the ones I interact with.

I agree. My sister is like this to a certain degree...let's her kids get away with stuff and then when it inevitably leads to bad behavior she goes straight to the worst punishment. It should be constant smaller punishments in the moment that they are needed and that fit the crime.

THIS. Parents need to grow a spine and actually discipline their kids. Doing the right thing isn't always easy or fun, but it's necessary.
@GracefullyAutistic22 күн бұрын
The parents should've grown a pair looooooong before Christmas, and then this wouldn't have happened in the first place. I've never seen a truly good parent have to 'cancel' Christmas. Why? Because they shaped up their child's behavior from the very beginning, so they never had to do this! Just because these parents are taking drastic measures to discipline in the moment such as this, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good parenting move...
@Undercover_Ave24 күн бұрын
I so agree with this they will be mad at the time but with time and if they have kids the kid will realize not to be a brat. I had my birthday cancelled because I had bad grades, bad attitude and walked all over my parents (sorry mom and dad) cancelled my birthday party and only received one gift because it was unreturnable. This will help kids realize not to act like a brat.

This is completely unfair to the little girl, because her behavior isn’t a reflection on herself, it’s a reflection on the mother/father or both on how they raised her, so if anything these parents shouldn’t be getting a Christmas, because as the old saying goes there is no such thing as a bad student (kid) only a bad teacher (parent).

My take on this is: I get not wanting to reward your kids for bad behavior.... HOWEVER, I find it ridiculous that out of the 365 days, Christmas is the one time they're willing to discipline their kids. They're disrespectful for a reason, they haven't been disciplined at all. Here's my solution... Give them their Christmas, but just put coal in their stocking, and give them coal as a Christmas present. BOOM! Lesson learned!

you dont understand "gentle" parenting, gentle parenting is the "right" parenting, meaning making the right decisions for them when issues come up. A more realistic and effective method she could have took was: Dont reward her, shes right with this, but, also, tell her why this is happening, how she can change and do better, and maybe for herself she can actually be more involved cuz she didnt even know her children was acting up until a teacher had to call and tell her, note, thats not the teachers job, they teach and educate them, parents actually nurse them and if shes being mean to others in her class shes not learning that from anybody but her.

Then maybe teach your kids to be grateful. Teach them to be grateful even for the the simplest things. Having a bed to sleep on every night, having a roof over their head, having clothes to wear, having food on the table. Basic necessities that not every child is fortunate to have. And if they’re still ungrateful, then they’re not getting anything for Christmas. Simple as that
@RapGame-k4c24 күн бұрын
nah you’re crazy. if my child is ungrateful, then they’ll just get a stocking full of coal for Christmas. It’s also part of teaching them about the real world. If you misbehave, act up, or straight up ungrateful, then you won’t get anything
@Edible_Paper21 күн бұрын
This is kinda understandable. Christmas PRESENTS are meant to be for GOOD kids, giving them presents and stuff will show them they will get whatever they want even if they are bad. while it is kinda far for completely cancelling christmas, plus also it meant to be more that just presents, its meant to be with family and (for religious people) loving God. somethin my parents did was lose a present (or more) depending on what i did. EXAMPLE: i yell at them and refuse to do chores/listen, i lose a present
