We don't have a pacifier rule. Some of my kids haven't cared for them and some are very attached. Usually we take them away when both the older and younger child are ready. It's a fruitless effort to take it from an older sibling if they can borrow one from the baby. Claudia wasn't big into pacifiers so it's been about 9 months or so since we've had one around.

Sometimes I can't decide which one so I use both. In the old days it was common for books and movies to have two titles. For example, there's a movie we watched awhile back called Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. No hate taken! :)

The kids earn money doing chores and our oldest son helps us with our home business so we pay him for that. Tom's mom and my dad usually come over on Christmas morning to watch the kids open gifts. We spend the afternoon at my sister's house with all our extended family (including Tom's side) or everyone comes to our house. We always have a party at my dad's house 2 days before Christmas and we visit any other family members we can as close to Christmas as possible. (Most of Tom's family live far away, so we don't get to see them as much.)

When your driving by yourself with your kids, You should let the oldest sit in the front to help you.. He is old enough to sit in front and help you out..I let my boy do it and in my state it is legal to let a 14 Yr sit in the front...

The older kids frequently take turns up front. A lot of times they'd rather sit together in the back because they enjoy each other's company.
